Wedding Looks with Haute Couture Flair

Looking for the dream wedding look? Look no further. Here are the cutting edge looks for 2013, off the runways.

Elie Saab designed a confectionery collection of regal lacy dresses that would suit a princess in Spain. There were also pastels that could deck out Mia Farrow circa 1968. Frankly, it was ephemeral and beautiful. They weren't hippie though. The dresses were well bred and grown up. You won't have to worry about looking immature at your own bash. The gowns glowed with his virtuoso design and fitted the models perfectly. Christopher Josse went the restricted route, with somewhat controlled sleeveless gowns that need only a simple headband to decorate with. George Chakra sent a model down the runway with a veil covered in frothy white lace pieces. Jennifer Lawrence recently shocked in her short Dior veil and hat, similar to the looks he sent down the runway at his bold wedding collection.

Nieves Lavi Debuts Resort 2013
We're in the midst of winter's coldest month and there's no better time than now to take a well-deserved vacation or at the very least think "tropical." Joonbug recently had the opportunity to chat with Sharon Lavi, one of the designers/founders of the trendy Nieves Lavi brand. Celeb fashion fans include Kourtney Kardashian, Kelly Ripa, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, Katharine McPhee and more. Nieves Lavi is making its return back to Resort with their 2013 collection, marking the brand’s exciting return to the colorful season. Inspired by the sundrenched beaches of Saint Barthélemy, the dresses and tunics evoke the sensual, relaxed aesthetic of a lush paradise that’s Parisian chic meets casual Caribbean. Designed in New York’s fashion district by Sam Nieves and Sharon Lavi, this duo understands what flatters a woman's shape and curves in an effortless way. What inspired you to create the popular Nieves Lavi line? We wanted the freedom to express our own distinct vision. We wanted to create an attainable designer line. Tell me about your background in the fashion industry. I've spent seven years in design, textile Design, and Marketing and Accessory Design . Before I founded Nieves Lavi, I was a Senior Designer for Harve Benard and a designer for Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang, where I also worked on accessories. I started my career in fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. What are some of the seasonal "must-haves" from the collection? Describe the resort/spring 2013 look. The Resort collection is geared towards a chic and effortless vacation--it features simple yet sophisticated styles that can fit any fashionista. Key pieces include easy fitting tunics and short or long drawstring caftans that flatter everyone. What is the one piece that you would suggest for a vacation get-away? The must-have piece in my opinion is the CDC China silk caftan in one of our prints. I love the Aqua color snake print worn from the beach to a restaurant with only a change of a bag -- pair it with a straw clutch and gold wedge sandals and you' re good for sunset drinks in St Barts or any place else! What's your advice to someone looking to get into the fashion industry? Dress appropriately for the interview, always show up on time, be pleasant and happy to help. These are the qualities everyone appreciates and seeks out. What do you pack in your own beach bag? Nieves Lavi cover up, lip gloss, sunglasses, Clarins 20SPF, an interesting book or a magazine, and a bottle of water -- I keep it simple.

People's Choice Awards 2013

Last night marked the 39th anniversary of the People's Choice Awards. While you, the fans, voted for all of your favorite performances in Hollywood, we at Joonbug waited for our favorite fashionistas to work the red carpet in dashing ensembles. The great thing about this year's red carpet trends was that...there were no trends! Last night's fashion free-for-all revealed a mix of styles including long white gowns, black cocktail dresses, neon minis, pale hues, metallics, florals, shimmer, and everything in between! We chose a few chic looks to don ourselves from some of our favorite winners. Luckily, designer Vera Wang, who made her luxurious brand accessible to all women by collaborating with Kohl's, has created great options to capture these red carpet looks for less than $100!

Vera Wang for Kohl's Spring 2013 Collection

Winter is coming, which means it's all about Spring 2013 fashion collections! Vera Wang's Simply Vera collection, sold exclusively at Kohl's, and newly launched Princess Vera Wang junior's collection, recently debuted their Spring 2013 collection to select individuals (Joonbug included!). Princess Vera Wang is the designer's first collection for juniors and ranges from preppy to boho chic. The designer drew inspiration for the collection from her two daughters. Simply Vera launched in 2007 at Kohl's and has been going strong ever since. The Spring 2013 collection for both lines is fraught with peaches, greens, pinks, and oranges, along with more year-round grays and blacks, with splashes of neon thrown in (the only outfits with neon I've ever liked). The collection embodies the transition from winter to spring with pieces that can be easily be layered. Crop top sweaters play a dominant role, along with bright, flow-y dresses. The jewelry veers toward bold and chunky and properly paired, can make a real statement. The handbags are some of my favorite pieces and can really make an outfit. Unfortunately, the collections are under tight wraps until February, so you'll just have to wait and see what you think for youselves. But we can sure tell you that we are digging what we've seen!

Will Vera Wang Nix Kim Kardashian Dress Replicas?

Say it ain't so! Not that we thought Kim Kardashian's marriage would actually last forever ,but we didn't expect it to be only 72 days! Amidst the media storm is word that Vera Wang will be making copies of the Kim K dresses for David's Bridal! According to reports it's actually true, but the real question is, will Vera go through with her plans? It seems like it would be a massive fail (and probably bridal bad luck!). Will people actually purchase these dresses? Or will they symbolize an unhealthy short marriage? Will Kim Kardashian Kris Jenner try to sue? Or the question everyone's been asking, will the media ever leave the Kardashians alone? Or rather will the Kardashian's leave the media alone? We say, don't do it Vera! Abort mission!
