Gear up for an exciting weekend of fashion, Los Angeles! As the summer winds down, things are only heating up in the style world. We are happy to announce that exclusive clothing line PINK+DOLPHIN Co. and Interscope Recording Artist, Chief Keef, are pairing up to celebrate the fashion brand’s exciting grand opening of their LA-based flagship store. Evening events are scheduled to take place this Saturday, Aug. 25th from 11PM-2AM. True to the company's vision of representing exclusivity, this special occasion will mark the “I Don’t Like” rapper’s first ever Los Angeles-based performance.
Electric Zoo may think it has the market cornered for Labor Day Weekend festivities, but music mogul Jay-Z has other plans in mind. Last week, the rapper/producer announced his Made in America multi-genre music festival for the same weekend, to take place on the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. And with a lineup ranging from classic rock to electronic, what other place would be fit to host the festival besides the “City of Brotherly Love.”
The festival's first day of performers consists of Jay-Z, Skrillex, Miike Snow, Calvin Harris, Maybach Music Group (Feat. Rick Ross, Wale and Meek Mill), Passion Pit, Gary Clark Jr., D'Angelo, Dirty Projectors, Janelle Monae, Prince Royce, Michael Woods, Otto Knows and Savoy.
It's always exciting when a new festival comes around. Here in the US, this is happening more often these days, helped by the huge increase in the popularity of EDM. Enter Counterpoint which stems from a collaboration between MCP Presents (Camp Bisco, Light All Night) and C3 (Lallopalooza, Austin City Limits), two of the biggest festival promoters in the US. With their knowledge and sway, they've attracted what may end up being one of the finest lineups of the year. Including Bassnectar, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, AVICII, Steve Angello and over 50 others, this multi-day, camper friendly festival is sure to cause quite a splash. Heading to Atlanta on September 27-29, the city will never be the same again.
The official lineup for this year's Lollapalooza Festival has been announced! Taking place on August 3 - 5 in Grant Park, Chicago, this year's festival is sure to be one for the record books.
Artists include The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, a recently reunited Black Sabbath, Jack White, Florence + the Machine, At the Drive-In, Bassnectar, The Shins, Avicii, Justice, The Weeknd, Sigur Ros, a recently reunited Afgan Whigs, M83, Frank Ocean, Nero, Die Antwoord, Tune-Yards, SBTRKT, The Walkmen, Sharon Van Etten, The War on Drugs, Twin Shadow, Toro y Moi, Wale, Zed's Dead, Childish Gambino and many more! Last night the who's who of hip hop, Hollywood, professional sports, and apparently, even finance came out to celebrate Jay-Z's "formal attire only" grand reopening of the 40/40 Club. And, grand, it certainly was. Once we got past the red carpet, cameras, and mob of people trying to get in, we were greeted with Ace of Spades champagne as we entered the elaborate entrance that looked more like a grand ballroom than a "sports club." Just put it this way, 40/40 is Jay-Z's establishment, so you know it's going to be over-the-top. Gigantic chandeliers surrounded the decadent bar, lined with none other than Ace of Spades champagne. The tiered seating is furnished with white leather booths, surrounded by a glass enclosure and larger-than-life flat screen TVs. This "sports bar" is more fancy than most upscale lounges, and we loved it. It's safe to say, 40/40 Club is the "King" of all sports clubs. And we really expected nothing less from HOV.

Wale - "Slight Work" feat. Big Sean (Prod. by Diplo) by RalphFolarin
We love Twitter. Especially when it inspires artists to leak tracks. After a "lively" Twitter discussion yesterday Wale and Diplo decided to leak their new track "Slight Work." The song features Big Sean and will be on Wale's upcoming album "Ambition." The album drops November 11 and you can pre-rder it here.
Rapper Wale has a lot to look forward to in the next few months.

The D.C. rapper's debut album Attention Defecit was released in 2009 along with the singles "Chillin," "Pretty Girls," and "World Tour."
The DMV Hip-Hop Awards was created five years ago in an attempt to help promote and celebrate the thriving hip hop community in the south but particularly D.C. area.
The award show took place in the Hyatt Regency. It focuses on local talent and attracted about 1,500 attendees. Too much alcohol combined with disagreements to the award show winners created tension. That tension erupted into violence during intermission feuds between crews. It is reported that twenty police cars responded to the venue. Eventually in response to half a dozen fights, police had to shut down the Award show.
Five people were treated on site for wounds; one was taken to the hospital for further treatment. The second half of awards scheduled to be presented were not given out.
Wale, who is from the D.C area, went onto twitter and tweeted his feelings about the violence, "DC hiphop took major steps last year…And now this. WE gotta do better."
A few big names in music are putting on a big show this weekend as a part of the Heineken Inspire tour. Cold War Kids and Rogue Wave will be performing Friday night, followed by Wale, J. Cole and others on Saturday, and best of all, the show is free.
The concerts are restricted to the 21+ crowd (it is sponsored by a beer company after all) and you have to reserve tickets ahead of time through this link. Be quick however, these tickets are sure to be snatched up quickly.
