The Wugazi Project: Fugazi and Wu-Tang Clan Mash-up Mixtape

Doomtree’s (the Minneapolis hip-hop collective and label) Kyle Smith, aka Cecil Otter, and Andrew Lund, aka Swiss Andy, have teamed up to release Wugazi: 13 Chambers, a mash-up project that combines Wu-Tang Clan acapellas with samples culled from tracks by indie band Fugazi. These two skilled musicians got their creative juices flowing after listening to Danger Mouse’s influential mash-up collection, The Grey Album. With their combined love for Fugazi and Wu-Tang Clan, what started as a side projected turned into a several year production.

The Wu-Tang Clan Has Reunited

Veteran hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan is preparing to drop a new album titled Legendary Weapons, scheduled to release on June 28th via E1. It's been nearly four years since the entirety of the multi-platinum rap collective Wu-Tang Clan joined forces on one record. Since then there have been several solo efforts and multi-member side ventures, but this collaborative release is the most anticipated project thus far.

When the first revealed track, "Only the Rugged Survive," exclusively featuring RZA on the mic, dropped last month, the crew launched an epic event that was years in the making -resulting in Legendary Weapons. RZA will reign as exectuive producer, with beats provided by Brooklyn-based band The Revelations, alongside Andrew Kelly, Fizzy Womack, and Noah Rubin (also known as Lil Flame). In addition to the core Wu members, the album also features cameos by M.O.P., Sean Price, AZ, and others. The next single to release from the album will be "225 Rounds," with U-God, Cappadonna, Bronze Nazareth, and RZA.

Rock The Bells 2011: Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nas, Cypress Hill, and More!

This year's Rock The Bells 2011 lineup is absolutely ridiculous, in the best sense of the word. From seminal artists like Lauryn Hill, Nas, Raekwon, Cypress Hill, and Ghostface, to up-and-coming heads like Mac Miller, this epic lineup is inducing permanent goosebumps. This four-city run festival may just be the greatest hip-hop festival of the year.

Last summer Rock The Bells featured several headliner artists who performed their most legendary albums in their entirety for the first time in the history of hip-hop entertainment. Such artists included Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, and the Wu-Tang Clan. This year the traditional will continue with Ms. Lauryn Hill performing her multi-platinum, multi-Grammy winning album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Nas performing his iconic debut album Illmatic with special guests AZ, Pete Rock, and DJ Premier. That act alone will be far and beyond mind blowing. Want more? You got it. Also set to perform full album sets are Cypress Hill, Mos Def & Talib Kweli (Black Star), and Raekwon & Ghostface. Summer madness has officially commenced.

Here they come ! Those naughty folks are once again ready to burn LA stage. I think Wu-Tang guys have always knew how to stay fresh and always bring something new. This is probably because they all had the freedom to go on solo and then come back to the crew with fresh ideas.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that they were among the best MCs, and still are. So get ready to witness the great performance of RZA, Raekwon, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, UGod, Method Man, Masta Killah, and the recent Cappadonna.

Rifkind, the man responsible for breaking in the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun and Mobb Deep, continues to impose his will on the industry with current megastars like the ubiquitous Akon and suburbanite rapper Asher Roth.

Interview: Pras, Something of Renaissance Man

Pralazrel "Pras" Michel is probably best known for his involvement in the infamous group The Fugees. Not only was Pras a lead vocalist in the group, he also met and introduced Lauryn Hill to fellow hip-hop sensation, Wyclef Jean. Pras' other artistic interests led to appearances in several feature films, including his own documentary, Skid Row. Through his music and film projects, Pras has been able to accomplish his main goal-to make others aware of the important social and humanitarian causes while maintaining constant originality. You go Pras! And off he goes-pariculary by continuing his goal with his new group AXIXS. AXIXS, represents a fresh hip-hop mix with electro funk, alternative rock, and reggae. November Live Music

It's the same damn thing every week. I'm enjoying my paper, drinking black coffee, reading every snarky article with glee, and then I get to the the concert listings. Well Goddammit, I think. Goddamn them for coming on tour, that week, this the week I am completely broke.
