Washington attracts people from all around the world – diplomats, businessmen, iron-fisted strongmen. So it makes sense that a wide variety of ethnic cuisines could be found in DCÂ's burgeoning restaurant scene. One of the more underrepresented culinary traditions is that of West Africa. Bukom Cafe seeks to rectify that. They tend to serve head-on fish, as do most French rustic traditions, and aggressively spice just about everything. If something on the menu confuses you, donÂ't hesitate to ask about it. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Expect to see African diplomats and businessmen sipping Mamba beer and tapping their feet to soca, reggae and Afro-beat bands at night.
