Venue Description:
What used to be the staid 17th Street Bar and Grill has become the Beacon, an aggressively swank restaurant and lounge in the Beacon Hotel near Dupont Circle. ItÂ's an ideal place to take your visiting parents (assuming they are paying). The chef gives his solidly American menu enough twists to impress but heÂ's not so out there, that you stare at the menu with bafflement. They truly want to be a hipster hangout joint, judging by the tiny kissing booth theyÂ've installed and all the sexed-up cocktails they offer. Indulge if you like. They spent $3 mill to impress you. ThatÂ's got to count for something.

The brunch was at worst ghetto and at best trailer park. Loud, poor service. Food was okay.
