Venue Description:
Tucked back on a quite street between tourist attractions in bustling downtown, the Tabard Inn somehow manages to serve simultaneously as WashingtonÂ's most romantic date spot as well as a haven for the notorious power-lunch crowd. While groups of diners enjoy the brick-walled garden patio, couples prefer the more secluded and dimly lit fireplace lounge. Despite the secretive setting, the word is out about Tabard Inn, so dinner reservations are a must. The chef describes the food as new American cuisine, and while the menu changes daily, it is heavy on seafood, and the prices are surprisingly moderate for a restaurant that comes with such a reputation.

Order and eat the donuts. Served only during brunch. Do it. Just trust me

Tabard's simple yeast doughnuts are a must. Before the designer doughnut obsession took off, these guys held the title of best fried dough in the District. They're still amazing and freshly-fried.

Opened in 1922 and named after a pilgrim’s place for respite in Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, The Tabard Inn remains the oldest continuously running lodge in D.C.

Softshell crab at first seemed too spicy but I came to adore it. Delicious and satisfying. Grilled calamari and octopus appetizer was also great!
