Raising the dead is always a tricky business. And when the late, lamented Bar None gave up the ghost in 1996, many shed a tear for its reggae-influenced “jungle parties” and went on. Two scrappy youngsters have tried to revive Bar NoneÂ's globetrotting spirit with mixed results. The crowd is all over the map – from the boho intellectuals who attend MondayÂ's poetry night to the serious party people who pack the loud downstairs room on Friday and Saturday nights as some of WashingtonÂ's most exploratory DJÂ's take over. Though the place seems slightly schitzo, it is appealingly schitzo. It simply aims to be a home for those with a discriminating, if eclectic, taste in nightlife.
