This international hotspot survived the rapid gentrification of Adams Morgan by transforming itself from seedy dive to chic nightclub. The name Timehri International is a reference to the sole airport in the tiny South American country of Guyana, and the Latin/Caribbean flavor is evident in everything from the drinks to the music to the décor. DJs appear every night, playing a unique, though not particularly inspiring, mix of reggae, R&B and funk, with a heavy emphasis on South American and Caribbean music. The crowded space, while comfortable and lively, can feel small and sweaty. The real reason patrons keep coming back to Timehri is the Guyanese cooking, featuring specials such as jerk chicken served from opening until late at night.
