Until a few weeks ago, Rialto was the only restaurant based at the gorgeous Charles Hotel without their own little outdoor spot for diners. Even dining indoors feels airy and natural. Now, in or outdoors, Rialto is the perfect setting to relax, settle in and feel at home, that is if your home is an exquisite villa in Italy with some of the best local ingredients prepared by an extremely talented chef.
The new patio designed by Cambridge architect, Maryann Thompson, is small and cozy. You never feel like you're just out in the middle of Charles Square rubbing shoulders with those having drinks at Legal Sea Food or those enjoying family style sides of New England fare at Henrietta's table. The gate and structure is fairly modern with a thin iron grid pattern for grape vines to grow along. You feel like you are on the back porch of someone's home with little pots of herbs, tiny globe lights and an orange saffron awning.
The patio is open for dinner every night until 10:00 p.m. After 10, you are invited to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail and some delectable bites from the bar menu outdoors as well. If you are an oyster lover stop by on Monday nights and enjoy $1 Duxbury oysters at the bar before dinner on the patio. Wednesday nights is a great night to join Chef Jody Adams for one of the perfectly paired Wine Dinners. Sunday through Thursdays there is a $40 prix-fix menu with farm fresh everything for salad and a white gazpacho to shortcake sliders with fruit jams and berry salad. The pan roasted spiced chicken will be cooked to perfection and the flavors of the salt cod gnocchi with eggplant and tomatoes will bring you seaside.
