The Best Oscar Viewing Parties in NYC!

Abandon the sofa and grab your coat—New York City has some of the best Oscar viewing parties around! The Academy Awards air this Sunday, and since it's of the biggest televised events of the year, plenty of  venues are putting on celebrations filled with trivia, specialty cocktails, and of course, big screen TVs. 


Le Poission Rouge

This music venue and multimedia art cabaret is hosting The Big Oscars Quiz Thing, an annual party and live trivia experience. The game show-like event will test you and your friends, pitting teams of attendees against each other to answer questions on the movie industry, music, history, sports, and more (you write answers on their Big Quiz Thing Answer Pad to avoid any form of shouting-out-incorrect-answers humiliation). The night starts at 5:30 pm, with the trivia contest preceding red carpet and award show fun. Tickets are $15, but $10 in advance

The Windsor

In both their West Village and Gansevoort Park locations, this high end sports bar is hosting their Oscar viewing party with a classy twist. At the celebration, which begins at 6 pm, guests will receive a complimentary glass of Prosecco with their dinner. Additionally, ballots will be handed out and voted on so you can see whose predictions match up best! The Academy Awards, along with red carpet coverage, will play on the venue's numerous flat screen TVs.

For a more low key night, visit the sideBAR's viewing party, where a $10 ticket will buy you admission, a free nominee-inspired cocktail, and access to their 2-for-1 Oscar-themed drink special. The clever Academy Award-ified beverages include Christian bALEGravity Bomb, or Well Cocktail. There's also a $50 open bar offering available, where guests will have access to Bud Light drafts, Well Cocktails, and house wines for two hours. The night begins at 7pm

Big Screen Plaza

Big Screen Plaza at Eventi Hotel is hosting a special event on their 30-foot HD screen. Guests will fill out a prediction ballot beforehand (the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to Humphrey Restaurant), enjoy themed drink specials, participate in Twitter giveaways, and trivia during commercial breaks. Table reservations are $300 per table, which sits up to six people and includes Oscar-inspired appetizers, three bottles of Gruet Brut NV, and guaranteed table/couch seating. There is also cash bar seating available on a first come, first serve basis.

100 Montaditos

This eatery inspired by 19th-century Spanish taverns specializes in montaditos, a crunchy roll stuffed and baked with delicious fillings. Their Oscar viewing party features their "Best Motion Pitcher" deal, a $12 offering including three montaditos, a personal pitcher of beer or Sangria, and Potatoes Bravos. A few of their Academy Award-themed options include the Captain Phillips (smoked salmon and cream cheese; Caesar dressing and parmesan; and anchovies, fresh tomato, mayo, and pepinillo) and The Wolf of Wall Street (olives appetizer; pepito, brie cheese, garlic pork, piquillo pepper, and arugula; and chicken, tomato, lettuce, and mayo).

LAVO Italian Restaurant


This restaurant, nightclub, and lounge is hosting their second annual R'Oscars, an upscale, black-tie viewing party. Rocco Ancarola, who is sometimes identified as the "grandfather of New York Sunday dinner parties," will host the lavish event and get guests up, out of their seats, and participating in some Academy Award fun. After the event, the eatery will dive right into their Riviera Sundays weekly party.

The Butterfly

At Alatmarea Group's The Butterfly, a cocktail and supperlounge, the festivities will include drinks from Eben Freeman and food by Michael White. Additionally, the venue will provide some award show fun with Oscar trivia, ballots, and prizes for film savvy guests. Enjoy a la carte specials, $10 cocktails, and the "finest fried chicken" while watching the big event as well as pre-show coverage.

Warren 77

If you're a pro at landing your predictions, check out the Oscars party at luxurious sports bar Warren 77. This venue will provide a running competition for every award category, where winners will receive a complimentary drink. The lucky guest who picks 'em right could go home with a bottle of wine and a gift certificate for two at Tiny's and the the Bar Upstairs. Have a large party? Terroir (Murray Hill)

For those who always look for an excuse to dress up, Terroir Wine Bar in Murray Hill is hosting a black tie costume contest. Guests can win prizes for their best looks or participate in predictions and trivia to win a complimentary glass of champagne. Additionally, the bar is offering four different Magnums by the glass and free popcorn for a truly award-winning night.

"Best Picture" themed cocktails and fashion come together at SingL restaurant this Sunday! Guests can enter in the ever-popular prediction ballot contest to receive a handbag (first prize for most correctly guessed winners) or a scarf (second prize) from Gerard Darel. The lounge will also be handing out discount cards for the Parisian brand exclusively at Bloomingdale's in NYC.
