Cheap Thrills: This Week's Open Bars

What better to get you out into the spring air than a little curiosity and free alcohol? Open bars are the Pandora’s Box of New York City. You never know if you’re going to come across some foreign art exhibit or new tequila launch party, and why not let that devilish grin take over while you keep your cash in your pocket and get away with a few free drinks to kick off the evening. This week there are plenty of open bar specials to take advantage of.

Cheap Thrills: Your Guide to this Weekend's Open Bars

Let’s say you have a limited amount of money, or perhaps no money at all, but you’ve already gotten it in your head that you’d like to have a few drinks. Glancing over at the jar of loose change, you refuse, as you should, to settle for a 40 oz. from the bodega on the corner. So you start to scroll through your contacts for a fully stocked fridge, err, friend, but wait! Here in New York City, at any moment, on any night of the week, exists an extraordinary phenomenon known as an "open bar," and it’s only a matter of knowing when and where.

FIRST COURSE
Willow Opening June 24th

The former general manager of New York's 49 Grove has carried his experience to a new location. His own. Mas will be opening The Willow Lounge on 28th Street between Park and Madison Avenues on June 24th. Alongside restaurant and club notable Caesar Silva, Mas will bring New York a unique restaurant martini lounge. Elegant and sophisticated, The Willow's prime location in Manhattan is certain to be an A-List favorite.

ALMOST FAMOUS
Mazel Tov Justin Ross Lee

With a red carpet outside, the shikas were accompanied by "Supercharged Super Jew" Justin Ross Lee (JRL) into 49 Grove for his big birthday celebration. JRL kindly closed the event off to his favorite 150 people and even allowed five of his "shiksa supporters" to come out and party.

Grove was quite crowded in the main area with the group of good looking people drinking away. But the best part of the night was walking through the curtains into the secret room for JRL. The Star of David decor along with blue balloons and Mazel Tov banner made up the "Mazel Tov Room" inspired by JRL himself.
