A LIST EVENTS
Lance Bass, Tinsley Mortimer, Olivia Palmero, Kelly Bensimon, Julie Henderson, Russel Simmons, Ciara, Swizz Beats, and Nicky Hilton were among the red carpet guests at the grand opening of Lavo on The Upper East Side. And, it's complete with a dance floor. What could be better? It seems that New York nightlife has a new superstar straight out of the Vegas desert.
Joonbug.com Miami threw their first official event to kick off the school year and wrap up Labor Day weekend in Miami. Grand Central, an old train station that has been morphed into a hot new club located in the up and coming downtown Miami area, made for the perfect venue. The event boasted a good looking 18+ crowd hailing mainly from the University of Miami. DJs King Benjamin, Beats Bailey, and New York phenom Jacomino spun open format to start the party, followed by sets of house and electro to close out one of the best Labor Day weekend parties around. Locals and students alike rocked the dance floor and popped bottles of Goose and Moet till 4 AM. The party was a great success and marked the beginning of a promising future for the Joonbug name.
Perhaps this past week in nightlife has given us yet another clue as to what our industry does when something goes terribly wrong. I reported earlier in the week on the death of 17 year old Nicole Johns, daughter of an American ambassador, child socialite. As the trail leading up to her death from the 25th floor of a skyscraper in Herald Square led us through her footsteps back to the velvet rope at Tenjune, the city and the blogging world began to buzz about who let her in, who let her drink, who gave her her fake, and who, just who in the world could get this child so drunk in New York City.
The highly anticipated announcement from District 36 has finally come. The opening event for the new 36th Street nightclub will be on September 17, 2010, perfectly timed with the culmination of Fashion Week in New York City. Featuring Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg, the opening night promises to be one of nightlife's most exclusive red carpet evenings.
If you aren't utterly exhausted after the Electric Zoo extravaganza taking place this coming weekend at Randall's Island, head to NYC nightlife staple Pacha for the festival's official after parties. September 4th, guests will include Sharam, Robbie Rivera, Dresden & Johnston, Italoboyz, Heartthrob (live), Taimur & Fahad and more. The tickets will cost you $35 in advance while supplies last, but thrifty partiers can get in at $25 if purchased at the same time as your festival ticket. And guess what folks you can do it all over again September 5th and rock out with DJ Guy Gerber and see surprise guest from the festival’s main stage. Opening set by Alex Kofman & Simon Heyliger. $25 in advance while supplies last. Parties are from 11pm to 5am!
