The phrase “authentic Italian” gets thrown around the NYC restaurant scene much more often than it should. However, at Hell’s Kitchen gem Tavola, located at 488 9th Avenue, authentic Italian only begins to scratch the surface of the gustatory delights to be found there. Restaurateur, owner, and Italian mastermind Nick Accardi opened Tavola about a year and a half ago in what was once a New York City landmark, Italian grocer, Manganaro’s. Originally opened in 1893, the grocery was family owned and operated until Accardi created the cozy yet innovative eatery that shares the same passion for Italian flavors. Accardi did a beautiful job of paying tribute to the building’s roots, maintaining many of Manganaro’s original features; the shelves and tile work were all original to the store.

This Saturday, October 26, from 9pm to 6am (perhaps after you're done swimming in the ocean of white at Sensation), get ready to explore 40,000 ft2 of Brooklyn warehouse filled to capacity with a diverse set of sensory stimulants, much like a zealous trick-or-treater's pillow case after a long night of confection accumulation. Babeland, the kinky sex accessories giant in New York's Lower East Side, is buddying up with M.A.C. artists on July, 14 to help benefit AIDS Walk NYC. The fundraising event is a cocktail party called Kiss and Make-Up, that is as much a dinner reception as it is an impromptu sex and cosmetics workshop. Participants will be able to get tips, and pointers to steam up the bedroom and spruce up their make-up skills, while also making a contribution to a worthy cause. Although it is not a workshop in a conventional sense, this event will be similar in many ways to the sex workshops that Babeland offers regularly year-round.
On June 12th, the International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) will be hosting their Reach for the Stars event in order to help fund research for treatments for girls with the developmental brain disorder known as Rett Syndrome.
Many influential people are expected to gather at this annual event between 6pm and 9pm at Hudson Terrace. DJ Hesta Prynn, a world renowned female DJ, will be donating her time to provide music and bring a little “girl power” in conjunction with this female only disorder. The event will begin with a cocktail reception and will also feature special musical performances provided by Randy Levine, Phil Blumberg, and Marc Applebaum. Dr. Alexandra Djukic, awarded by IRSF for her work at the State Rett Syndrome Center in the Bronx, will be giving a reading in addition to a live and silent auction. Liquor for this event will be provided by Grey Goose, Alacran Tequila, and Forever Young Wines. Other sponsors include cupcakes from Baked By Melissa and party favors by Popcorn Indiana among others. The honorees for this year’s benefit are Deborah and Noah Katz, Laura and Daniel Katz, Jillian, Abigail, and Victoria.

Our favorite fashion bloggers and street style photographers have our back when it comes to letting us know what’s up next when it comes to trends. It is their (very awesome) job to show us what the fashionable people of the world are wearing on the streets. That way we can take the ideas home and copy the crap out of them!
See our top three choices for this week in fashion:
Judging by the blogs this week, the peplum trend isn’t going anywhere. Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere displayed this look with an adorable pink peplum top from H&M. We also saw the trend on Blair from Atlantic-Pacific, as well as Delmy from Fashion Bananas. Try it yourself with this sleeveless version by Anthropologie.
