Street Chic of the Week

Our favorite fashion bloggers and street style photographers have our back when it comes to letting us know what’s up next when it comes to trends. It is their (very awesome) job to show us what the fashionable people of the world are wearing on the streets. That way we can take the ideas home and copy the crap out of them!

See our top three choices for this week in fashion:

Peplum Tops

Judging by the blogs this week, the peplum trend isn’t going anywhere. Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere displayed this look with an adorable pink peplum top from H&M. We also saw the trend on Blair from Atlantic-Pacific, as well as Delmy from Fashion Bananas. Try it yourself with this sleeveless version by Anthropologie.

Yeasayer: the past meets the future

For those of you that listen to WVUM or have been fortunate to hear from this band by word of mouth, you know that Yeasayer is a completely different animal than your conventional rock band.

Songs like "Ambling Alp" and "Rome" proved catchy enough to get me out to the Fillmore on Miami Beach on Tuesday for an evening with the Brooklyn-based group. Smart choice.

Yeasayer came out to "Goodbye Horses", which I found oddly humurous, then the lights came on to reveal an oddity behind the band: two pairs of what one would guess was a molecular desgin concept that resembled two large honeycombs that would match clever spurts of lights throughout their set showing that the band had been meticulous about combining the sound and visual effects to further enhance the experience.

Tibi: Totally Waisted

All the belts and waist emphasis were certainly overwhelming, but I couldn't help falling in love with the romantic and flirty Fall 2010 Tibi collection. The styling may have been a tad bit repetitive, with each model walking the runway with a big head of tight, flouncy curls and almost always a belt at the waist to cinch in their cardigan, coat, jacket, or dress. Nevertheless, each look was truly individual and completely captivating. Long sleeve crew necks appeared under corsets and sleeveless floral print dresses, and burgundy or wine colored tights kept the looks very fall appropriate. Beautifully draped dresses with a glamorous sparkle or sophisticated Grecian aesthetic also maintained the juxtaposition of delicate femininity and fearless femme fatale. Founder and designer Amy Smilovic says that her collection is inspired by "the romantic standard of masculine and feminine, hero and heroine, Napoleon and Josephine, Samson and Delilah."
