ABBEY LEE KERSHAW
Designers Have Birthdays: Everyone wish Prabal Gurung a very big Happy Birthday today. The designer who is in his third season traveled home to Nepal to spend his special day with family. The Bill Blass veteran left the design house in 2008 to design glamorous gowns of his own for Orpah, Demi Moore and more celebrities. He recently made Paper Magazine's Beautiful People: Class of 2010, saying, "I can’t believe I’m in this issue. I hope it’s for my inner beauty -- that’ll last longer. I’m assuming that it is."
Theory To Invest Into Proenza: Earlier we reported that Permira, the owner of Proenza Schouler and Valentino, had intentions of bettering both brands, but didn't deny their willingness to sell their stakes for both labels. A day after the news was released, Proenza's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez met with Andrew Rosen, CEO of Theory, for a meeting that is speculated to place Rosen as a potential investor. Nothing has been confirmed, but hey, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
Taylor Jacobson's New Gig: Former Rachel Zoe slave, Taylor Jacobson, recently landed a new gig with Armani Exchange as an visual consultant and fashion expert. If we said it any faster, we would have said she's in retail hell - but we didn't. She will be assisting the retail chain and the launch of their new Hollywood Robertson Boulevard store. Work, girlfriend!
Louis Vuitton Boast on Facebook: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Louis Vuitton, Yves Carcelle, is far past his Twitter 140 characters, but made his statement clear via Facebook as follows:
"If you look at Facebook for instance, we are the luxury brand that has
the biggest number of friends by far. Close to a million people in the
world have declared themselves friends of Louis Vuitton. We use
Twitter. We are actually working very strongly on revamping completely
the platform of our Web site so in the next few months the Web site
will become even more interesting and interactive. We think that it’s a
brand new area that opens to luxury and it’s like any new technology.
It can be poorly done or it can be a fantastic way of developing a
whole universe around who you are." Arrogant or label narcissist? We can't decide.
We may have ultimately come to the conclusion that Abbey Lee Kershaw was a loser with a modeling career ending very soon, after she turned down walking in Alexander McQueens infamous Spring 2010 show.
But the model claims it was for safety and health regulations - still in denial over the famed lobster claw shoes. Um, sure?
"I'm hoping [the shoe heights are] going to come back down soon because . . . I mean, health and safety regulations have to come into play at some point."
