ABOVE & BEYOND
If you don't see the powerful trio, Above & Beyond as pure British Trance gods than you might be missing out on what it is to actually experience and hear good music. There are truly amazing trance producers out there, but A&B just generates a special connection to their audience. Their new video for "Alchemy" featuring Zoë Johnston shows just that.
The video tells an emotional tale of a relationship that diminishes when a woman finds her lover with someone else. The track stands right to Jono Grant, Paavo Siljamäki, and Tony McGuinness' true style. It's deeply filled with melodic chords behind the pleasant vocals of Zoë Johnston can capture your soul right from the beginning.
Ultra Music has just launched its newest video series titled "Above & Beyond the clouds...a personal journey through the white island." The footage takes dance music aficionados through the famed island of Ibiza during the hottest summer club season in the world.
The first in the series features Above & Beyond who look back on their cherished memories and remember how the island has influenced their sound and what makes it such a special place to celebrate a love of dance music. Opening with saying "Our roots are really... very much on this island. There's so much history we've been coming here for so many years now," it's clear that Ibiza serves as a heavenly place for just about everyone.
For many New Yorkers, the feeling of attempting to navigate through Pacha's jam-packed dance floor is, uncomfortably, a familiar one. In a city that boasts some of the most impressive lineups weekend after weekend, sacrifices must sometimes be made to take full advantage of all that New York clubs have to offer. So last weekend, we decided to venture out of the confines of Manhattan and explore some new territory.
When word first spread that Above & Beyond was to play at Mixx, one of the two clubs in Atlantic City's highly-esteemed Borgata hotel, a road trip down the turnpike seemed like the only logical plan of action. While most usually associate our neighboring state with MTV's favorite fist-pumping clubbers, AC has always stood out in a distinct way of its own. And lately, after the launch of a massive new advertising campaign, it is clear that the identity of the city has shifted from that of a shady gambling mecca to more of an epic destination. Visitors are urged to "do AC," a vacation spot that is all-encompassing, and one that offers less of a predetermined culture and more of a clean slate. It is here that experiences are created, and whether spending a weekend at the heartbreak hotel or hitting the jackpot for the first time, AC can mean anything to anyone at any time.

We are all guilty of having a case of the Monday's every once in a while. When your gearing up for the weekend ahead, it's best to accompany those thoughts with some energetic tunes. This week's playlist is compiled of huge dance tracks (old and new) that will make your week just a little bit better.

Usually when an eclectic mix of ravers cross paths, they find themselves wired with different brainwaves and thinking patterns, disagreeing and interested in opposite genres whether it be dubstep, progressive house or trance. But when the conversation between the two parties leads to Electric Zoo, surprisingly, the two-different minded personalities can usually come together in agreement: Electric Zoo is an electronic music festival, designed for whatever type of sub genere of dance music you’d like to delve into.
Taking place from 8/31-9/1 on Randall’s Island in New York City, Electric Zoo boasted a prestigious line-up of the top DJ and producers in the world, a sold-out crowd and unbelievable electronic music. For three-days straight, attendees dressed in absurd neon attire, drenched themselves in glitter and danced around in animalistic ways while world-renowned DJ/producers dropped their latest beats and high-tech LED visuals.
This Labor Day, Electric Zoo is set to takeover Randall’s Island for the fourth year in a row. With just under two weeks left until the festival, organizers have released the final lineup and set times for the three-day event. Spanning four stages, Electric Zoo will offer an eclectic lineup, which includes everything from House to Techno, Trance to Dubstep, and Electro to Drum & Bass. Some of the most notable names in the EDM will perform in one of the biggest electronic music festivals on the east coast, with David Guetta, Axwell, and Tiësto headlining.
After spending the last year circling the globe, bringing the “Group Therapy” tour to fans far and wide, Above & Beyond has released a brand new instrumental track titled “Small Moments.” Somewhat of a culmination of the tour's adventures, the track’s rising melodies and simplistic piano chords piece together all of the small moments that make up our lives as music lovers and as human beings. The track is accompanied by an inspirational music video which captures those life moments you just never forget.
Ten miles of darkness and 2000 cars separated us from the festival we had only dreamt about. As we stared forward, excited and anxious, there was a faint flicker towards the sky and then the familiar explosion of fireworks in the distance. A roar ripped through the desert from the cars around us. Indian chiefs and their topless girlfriends yelled and cheered out their windows, as packs of neon spattered fur boots ran by on foot. This was the scene I had heard so much about. The one that would save dance music events
Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival has consistently been remarked as the premier Electronic Music festival in the country. With steady competition from Ultra Music Festival , and the multitude of other events that have developed in the past few years, claiming that title is quite a feat. Insomniac’s founder, Pasquale Rotella, has rose through the ranks of California promoters to a point of utmost success. He has absolutely earned his stripes, with the immense scale of his events and consequences this sometimes brings. The risk involved with such massive gatherings as these has made it necessary for Pasquale to impose a new standard for safety at these events, both at the gates and in the festival. In both appearance and functionality, EDC proved to be nothing less than the world-class event that was beckoned for.
