Official Internet Week NY Opening Party
The Joseph Abboud Fall/Winter 2012 presentation was the brand’s reintroduction to the runway for the first time in seven years, and will certainly be hard to follow next season. The grandiose event took place in the expansive Marine & Aviation Terminal at Pier 57. Before the show backstage buzzed as expected and we could not have been more thrilled to witness it first hand (peep the slideshow below!). Creative Director Bernardo Rojo mingled among models, hair and makeup artists, and the backstage crew, taking interviews and exuding a surprisingly calm aura only a man as distinguished as he could possess. Deputy Editor Dan Koday and his teen.com video crew were present, providing comic relief while conducting “20 Questions to Ask a Model” interviews. Question topics ranging from American history (how old is the United States) to pop culture (what did Beyonce name her baby?) served to find out if it’s possible to have beauty and brains! The handsome fellas either impressed us with witty and accurate responses or ended up stumped otherwise—not to be entirely faulted, native Latvians have an excuse! Meanwhile, hair and makeup transformed the already dapper dudes into true Joseph Abboud men with precisely windblown hair and flawless complexions.
On Saturday, November 5, 2011, the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida and InterContinental Miami will celebrate the 17th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball. Deco Productions will take the Ball’s décor to a new level of extravagance with a black and white avant-garde masquerade that pays homage to Truman Capote’s famous A-list-only affair at New York’s Plaza Hotel in 1966. Masked guests can look forward to being surrounded by living chandeliers and psychedelic black and white art installations on the mezzanine.
You've been going to that 46th street cave since, like, ever. The Sound Factory back step just doesn't work to Electro. Shuffling? (Yea, only in your walker!)
Jokes aside, if you like your beats dark and dirty then the unofficial place to be after this weekend's Electric Zoo is Studio 21, where Endless presents Berlin’s tech-house extraordinaire &ME.
Making his first appearance in America for nearly a year, &ME has been busy on the European club circuit, playing massive festivals like Suicide Circus and Creamfields. &ME will be supported by Eric Harary, who’s destined to be the biggest names out of Brooklyn since Tony Rohr. Eric has played along side international techno superstar Ricardo Villalobos and been featured at the best world superclubs, from Dubai to Tokyo. Offering the best of local NYC talent, Terry Nova and Damien Ford will warm up the dance floor in the same fashion of their Brooklyn rooftop parties, which have made quite a stir this summer.
Once the animals come out of their cages, it's hard to put them back in.
Just try. Don't tell us we told you so.
This weekend's Electric Zoo Festival will be the most massive party to hit New York City this year. If you still have anything left in you after 12 hours of raging with your glowsticks and hula hoops-- hey, they are serving only organic food, which should give you an extra boost of energy-- check out these official afterparties.
They will be thrown at Pacha. (Where else?)
