The Anchor Bar’s co-owner Jason LaGerenne wants to spend a million dollars so the SoHo bar’s patrons will have something cool to Instagram. What could possibly be cool enough to Instagram? Well, howabout Blackbeard’s 13 feet by 8 feet anchor that went down with his ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge off the coast of North Carolina in 1718. Yes, who wouldn't Instagram the barnacles of that thing?
Anchor Bar owner Gunther Bilali told Blackbook that LaGerenne is a boat fanatic and that the bar needs
“a real Anchor… a serious anchor.” Unfortunately, as it stands, the only thing seriously anchored is the bar’s dreams because the State of North Carolina is not about to just give up their sunken treasure.
