ARGENTINA
Everyone knows Argentina for their amazing beef, flavorful wine, authentic leather goods, romantic tangos, their peoples’ thick Spanish-like accents, and not to mention their beautiful men. Don’t kid yourself; we know you wish you could just turn a corner and find yourself in the streets of Buenos Aires whenever you wanted. Since the lovely country of Argentina is, unfortunately, only 4373 miles away, we have Panizza Bistro in Miami Beach to thank for.
Panizza Bistro, located on 122 Lincoln Road, is like a little page taken out of an Argentinean fairy tale, and best of all: it’s über cheap! Their menu items range from $.95 to $15! With its outside seating and indoor benches, it’s the quintessential cozy little coffeehouse/bakery that people search for years to find. Grab a basket and tongs to select from their many displayed pastries or select from their authentic Argentinean delicacies like empanadas, pies, tortillas, or miga sandwiches. I, personally, am addicted to their beef empanadas!
We've always had a feeling that there may have been more behind the prominent red gloves and lips at Givenchy's Fall 2010 show. Pure evil, is it?
Apparently, Givenchy wanted an exclusive deal with several models to walk in their show. Most of the models Givenchy hand-picked were cancelled 24 hours before the Sunday show - by way of email.
An anonymous agent claims Givenchy booked 5 of their models without an exclusive fee - just 1500 Euros in payment and press - whilst making the girls pay their own hotel fees. In the email, Givenchy cited a "fit problem," as their reason for cancellation.
Last Thursday, we had the pleasure of traveling to South America, okay, so it was more like we walked into the Bryant Park Promenade. That aside, we had the great pleasure of attending the Argentine Designer Collection runway show. The show featured five Argentinean designers with five unique takes on Argentinean fashion.
The stage was set with Benito Fernandez, the first designer to show their collection. After graduating from law school, Fernandez attended fashion design school in both Argentina and Paris. Known for his colorful and bold design, Fernandez’ spring/summer 2010 collection was joyful and youthful without being overly styled. Each model practically danced down the runway in gypsy-like tops, dresses and pants. In 2002, Fernandez received international recognition with the opening of his first boutique in Barcelona, Spain.
