Beats By Dr. Dre have quickly become THE must have accessory for music lovers all over the city. While more of a fashion statement than an aural one, these headphones, often costing almost $300, have not gone unnoticed by muggers either. Whereas smartphones and mp3 players were the bees knees just a few months ago, there has been a startling increase in the number of muggings for a shiny new pair of Beats.
According to a source at the Post, "They’re very hot among thieves... It’s like, ‘I see it. I want it. I can have it. I’m taking it for me, or my sister needs a pair."
In keeping with the ongoing trend of celeb headphones, Tiesto has announced that he is throwing his hat into the fray via his “AKG by Tiesto" model. Artists—having the highly stylized aural sensibilities that they do— justify these creations by marketing them as “the optimal vessel for experiencing their lush tuneage." With “Beats by Dre” currently dominating the competition, Tiesto has joined with world-renowned sound engineers “AKG” to put his unique spin on the ear candy.
“AKG by Tiesto” is set to offer three distinct models by the time it launches this June. In hoping to achieve the perfect balance of style and performance, Tiesto claims his phones shall continue his personal ethos of “giving fans a breathtaking audio experience”. Prices aren’t yet listed, but given the nature of these celeb creations, I’d lean closer to Mr. Benjamin as a starting point.
"A Tribe Called Go Figure," Phife Dawg mused towards the latter end of the documentary. Cat fights, name calling and pre show fall outs; this documentary really delves into the grittiness involved with one of the worlds most influential hip-hop groups of all time.
The mastermind behind showcasing their times and trials, Michael Rapaport, has over twenty years of notable film credit, which include True Romance and Mighty Aphrodite, along with appearances in the TV programs My Name Is Earl, Prison Break and Friends. Rapaport's self funded creation is a remarkable insight into the inner trappings of the four characters that make up the legendary rap group, A Tribe Called Quest.
