This Friday, the American Museum of Natural History is hosting a party like no other in their famed Rose Center. Regardless of what your local meteorologist suggests the weather may be like come out to the AMNH for one of the biggest kick off parties this fall.
The immense size of this place is awestricking enough. Combine that with the glass exterior walls of the wing, not to mention that you're in one of the coolest museums on this side of the country. Yet the sheer feeling is the best part.
This week in NYC is definitely not for the hermits or faint-hearted. Along with parties for every night, midweek the NYC Beauty Sample Sale is mixed in for a chic make-over. Great sounds and causes, with party themes ranging from prom to stargazing, your week is bound to be out of this world. Without further ado- your weekly party guide:

Nicola Conte Jazz Combo and Erica Mou @ Le Poisson Rouge
Head over to Le Poisson Rouge for a fresh, original brand of acid jazz, unique to only DJ Nicola Conte. Hailing from Bari, Italy, Nicola Conte, has become a renowned acid jazz mix master, because of his incredible ability to blend styles like bossa nova, Indian, with samples from 60s Italian film scores, and acid jazz. With new songs and international hits like “Bossa Per Due” (heard recently in Acura commercials), you’ll know you’ll be enveloped in a sea of great music. Also, the talents of Erica Mou are not to be missed tonight, after Nicola Conte’s performance in the booth. Be sure to get your tickets in advance here.
Though Lollapalooza has released the headliners for its first international festival, Lollapalozza Chili, it has not officially released the lineup for the original festival. That has not stopped numerous music news sites from releasing the rumored headliners for the music festival.
Lollapalooza takes place over three days, August 5th thru the 7th, in Chicago. It boasts about seventy artists spread out over five stages, and numerous after parties. "Reliable sources" have revealed to Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot the headliners: Eminem, Muse, and The Foo Fighters.
The first wave of performers at the 19th annual Noise Pop Festival have been announced.
Early bird badges are on sale now for $125 and include a free festival T-shirt. Regular badges are $160 and will be available on December 9th. The festival will be held on February 22 - 27 and will take place in various venues around the city (Bottom of the Hill, Great American Music Hall, etc.). Noise Pop also includes a film festival, art shows, a craft fair, and a music industry conference.

I'm an East Coast girl to the core, but there are some things that are just better out West. The weather, the Mexican food, and the chance that you will run into Johnny Depp in a bathing suit. And when it comes to 1960s-inspired surf pop, Californians have us East Coasters beat.
