Diane Von Fürstenberg’s new collaboration with ROXY is set to launch just in time for spring break! Being released online and in stores on March 7th, the surfer-chic collab between the high-profile designer and the Huntington Beach, CA.-based apparel line is a celebration of natural beauty and confidence. All pieces “reflect Diana Von Fürstenberg’s love of beach culture and nature as well as ROXY’s active and trailblazing spirit.” By combining DVF’s fun, bold prints with ROXY’s signature swim silhouettes the line is playful and empowering. Designed “for women who want to be the women they want to be” the collection includes ROXY’s beach essentials such as swimwear, cover-ups, board shorts, rash guards, and beach bags. For the most part, the bikini separates can be mixed and matched to create a bikini that’s perfect for your body type and style sense. We especially love the pastel tribal print of the Hopscotch Multi bikini with Knotted Bandeau Top! (top: $54, bottom: $46)
Last night, Caitlin Kelly, an up-and-coming swimwear designer, held an exclusive preview runway show on the rooftop of 2 Gold Street. Caitlin graduated from FIT and has since designed for Badgley Mischka, Target, AH Schreiber, and was the head designer for Aerin Rose Swimwear. Her line was so well received that the owner of Jordan Taylor Inc. offered her the opportunity to create her own high end swimwear collection. The exclusive preview last night was the result of that opportunity and she will be showing her Spring/Summer 2013 collection again at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami this July.
The fashion industry has often faced scrutiny for using Photoshop to create unrealistic images, but H&M is taking it to the next level.
Apparently, no human model is perfect enough for the Swedish mega-retailer that decided to create their models from scratch in a computer. The company recently admitted that bodies modeling bikinis in their catalog are "completely virtual." They simply add the models' heads and change the skin tone to match in post-production. Even the bikinis on the fake bodies aren't real, as they are also drawn on digitally.
