The Green Day inspired play, "American Idiot," is very popular on Broadway, but since Billy Joel Armstrong (Green Day singer/guitarist) left the show this past February, sales have dropped dramatically.
"Box office grosses for the show dropped from $1.3 million during the final week with Armstrong to $395,275 for last week's eight performances” (Rollingstone).
The rapid decline in sales is defiantly in direct correlation to Billy Joel Armstrong's departure from the show.
Fellow punk rocker, Davey Havok of A.F.I, replaced Armstrong's role as St. Jimmy.
