Brad and Angelina Engaged!

The Middle East situation may remain unresolved but this week the unthinkable had happened. After years of unwed bliss, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have suddenly announced they’re engaged to be married.

“Yes, it’s confirmed,” Cynthia Pett-Dante, Pitt’s manager, told USA Today. “It is a promise for the future, and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”

Six kids later, Brad has finally decided to put a ring on it. Beverly Hills jeweler Robert Procop confirmed that he helped Brad, 48, design a custom diamond engagement ring for Angelina, 36.

Hollywood's Touch Of Evil

Last month, New York Times Magazine gathered the year's best film performers to create a short series of beautifully chilling videos directed by Alex Prager called A Touch Of Evil. Killers, crooks and crazies are just a few of the villianous archetypes that were selected and portrayed by our favorite actors. (Watch the whole series here.)

There's Brad Pitt as the madman, where he says he was channeling ‘‘Peter Lorre — with a dose of Kramer.’’ He was praised last year for Moneyball and The Tree of Life. Mia Wasikowska becomes and axe-weilding home wrecker reminiscent of The Shining. Her best performances include Albert Nobbs, Jane Eyre and Restless. Rooney Mara, leading "lady" in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, dresses as the sociopathic Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Gary Oldman imitates a creepy ventriloquist dummy in his spooky spot. Quite a different role from his performance in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Brad Pitt (Finally) Wants To Marry Angelina Jolie

Another power couple might be walking down the aisle in the future.....

Brad Pitt spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, “We'd actually like to, and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out.”

He and long-time partner Angelina Jolie have held out long enough, so they definitely deserve to do this for themselves. "It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment."

And the Oscar Nominees Are...

It's that time of year again --Hollywood's award season! The time of year where people obsess over who-won -what-wearing-what-on-the-arm-of-who. Did you get all that? More importantly, film greatness is honored and recognized. While the Academy Awards have received lukewarm reviews in the past few years over choice of host, a slow-moving program, and generally unfunny punchlines; everyone gets excited over who will win best Actor and Actress in a leading role, and that final nailbiting moment: Best Picture of the Year.

(For the record, leads we're pulling for are Brad Pitt in Moneyball and Glenn Close in Albert Nobbs.)

Zac Young Knows How to Sweet Talk

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Err…maybe not. But, at least for red carpet regulars, it is a pretty glamorous season. And while most of us won’t necessarily have the opportunity to decide between the Versace and the Valentino, we can still invite our besties over to cheer for the winners and play a few rounds of “guess who bought more Botox?” We're talking about the nominees, obvi!

To bring a bit more flavor to these uber-tasteful soirees, First Course grabbed a seat in the sweet kitchen of Flex Mussels’ Executive Pastry Chef (and former Top Chef: Just Desserts cheftestant) Zac Young. Check out Zac’s suggestions for the ultimate awards season dessert party and why everything is better with bacon.

Brangelina Gives Back Big Time

Leave it to Hollywood's most powerful pair to show 'em how it's done.

Angelina Jolie and long-time partner Brad Pitt have donated a nice chunk o' change to Humanitarian Initiative Just Relief Aid, $340,000 to be exact, to provide relief in Somalia. Hopefully, their selfless act of generosity will be a huge help. The organization has a goal to curb the worst drought and resulting famine in the country for more than 60 years.

According to the United Nation, the services of the HIJRA could potentially help an estimated 750,000 Somalis from starvation death. To learn more about the organization, visit Hijra.or.ke.

New York Observer's '50 Media Power Bachelors'

Hey Ladies (and gentlemen?), contrary to popular belief, there are still single eligible men left. Well, at least according to New York Observer ,who released their '2011 50 Media Power Bachelors' list a couple days ago. If you're like me and you have a predisposition for loving nerds, you will dig this list. It includes well-knowns like Anderson Cooper, Shepard Smith, and the extremely drool-worthy "Brad Pitt of Media," Pete Cashmore of The Mashable. (Who would be my #1 stalking choice if I was still single.) Honorable mentions go to lesser-known cutie patooties, Jeff Bercovici (Forbes), Tyler Hicks (NYT), and Jason Kincaid (TechCrunch).

Cannes Favorites Come Stateside

The 64th Cannes Film Festival wrapped on May 22nd and two of its standout films, the whimsical Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen and the resplendent The Tree of Life by enigmatic director Terrence Malick have already opened in New York. Here's a look at both films:

On the back of Woody Allen and his cast's star power, Midnight in Paris opened Cannes. In recent years Allen, long known for films that reflect the quintessential wit of Manhattan, has left New York to shoot in London (Match Point, Scoop, Cassandra's Dream, and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger), Barcelona (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), and Rome (Bop Decameron, currently in production and slated for a 2012 release). Midnight in Paris marks Allen's first film in the City of Light, and he is determined to depict it in all of its brilliant mystery and glamour.

Brangelina Out With The Kids

Angelina flew the entire family to New Orleans on Friday where daddy Brad is into the production of thriller Cogan's Trade. Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne came along for the ride. It's not often that they go out in public en masse!

They headed to Louisiana's staple VertiMarte Deli: "They came in and got some juice and chips and stuff like that for the kids. They don't get a lot of pop for the kids. They like to get the whole family out and walk around on a pretty day like today." told a source to PEOPLE

The Jolie-Pitts were all smiles and even waved to admirers from the Deli.

Angelina and the kids headed back to L.A. last night. Brad will stay in The Big Easy a few other weeks.

Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, is currently in the process of securing film rights for the Chilean miners story. Pitt is also undergoing negotiations with the reps of the once 33 trapped miners to make sure he gets the absolute go ahead.

What a great idea. This story that moved so many will most likely make the cut for a film- nice job Brad!
