Trending: The White Out

We love to wear white during the summer; it’s light, it’s easy, and it makes us look bronzed. Perhaps that’s why so many designers incorporated the colorless trend into their S/S 2012 collections. Here are some of our favorite looks from the runways and how to achieve them this summer.

A word of advice: make sure you have a Tide-To-Go pen with you when wearing these looks!

Stuff We Love: Bright, Boxy Bags

It was the fashion trend seen 'round the world during this past fashion week brigade. The bright, boxy bag made repeat appearances on the arms of fashionistas all over. Fashion bloggers in the know such as Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere, Atlantic-Pacific’s Blair, and Carolina of Fashion Squad, have illustrated the many ways you can style this fun springtime accessory.

Blazers: Splurge vs. Steal

There’s nothing like a sexy blazer to complete your fall look. Pair with slacks and you’re ready for the office! Or wear one over your favorite party dress for a stylish (yet cozy) night out on the town. Sometimes splurging on a high-end piece seems well worth the extra bucks (minus the shopper's remorse), so if you love fashion as much as we do (translation: you’re constantly restocking your wardrobe), owning a variety of designer blazers can get a bit pricey. Below, you’ll find five of our favorite designer jackets and next to them their affordable (alternative) siblings.

Kanye West Takes On Fashion Week

Just as New York Fashion Week makes its way around our corner the newest breakout designer in front of all the excitement is none other than Grammy winner ,controversial recording artist Kanye West. The news came as a surprise to fans when Kanye revealed that his new self titled collection to be released this year will not be a menswear line, but a women’s collection. The collection is scheduled to be revealed at Lincoln Center during this year’s September Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week.

The buzz began three years prior when Kanye fan bloggers monitored and reported his activities in preparation to release a contemporary menswear line. This line formally known as Pastelle would follow the success of his collection of trademarked Louis Vuitton sneakers. Pastelle was highly anticipated by fans, and was highly criticized by the fashion community after reports that he had revamped the collections previous soft image. In efforts to create a brand that would match the menswear line and its new direction the brand was renamed Pastellemuseum (also viewed on his promotional Tumblr account as Past Tell Museum).

Marc Jacobs- Potential New Creative Director for Dior?

WWD has informed us that Marc Jacobs may be stepping in as Dior's new Creative Director; the position has remained un-filled since Galliano was sacked due to allegations that he may have made anti-semantic remarks.

Not only are we anxiously awaiting a confirmation on whether or not Jacobs will actually take the new position, but we are besides ourselves wondering if he will really leave Louis Vuitton?! If both questions are answered with a yes, that means that Phoebe Philo will be the first choice as Jacobs' replacement at LV. However, she will remain at Celine regardless if she takes the new position or not.

Light the Night in White

'Effortless', 'Sophisticated', 'Prone to smudging with chocolate ice cream!' These are some of the phrases we associate with white clothing. But lets add another definition 'Seriously On Trend'!

A plethora of designers, highlighted white in their collections this season: From Alexander Wang, whom created an easy to wear collection, combining the 'non shade' with soft pastels, through to Celine, whom kept the look sharp and clean with androgynous white pieces, in flowing fabrics.

To take the look from catwalk to street, start with a simple, white cotton shift or wide legged pants and a white tank. Team with wedges in the same shade to keep the look fashion forward, or a nude shoe to look less 'standout' and more 'chic'. In both instances, keep make up and hair simple to add a sophitsicated edge. For more adventurous types, experiment with trend combining. A white outfit paired with a neon shoe or citrus bright purse, as demonstrated on the catwalk by Kenzo, tap's two of summers key trends -white and brights- whilst still keeping the look fresh and uncomplicated.

Zac Posen's Pop-Up Shop: Clearly Target plans to take over the world - or at the least catch the consumers who love a zingy budget - with more NYC pop-up shops planned, the next being Go International's Zac Posen collaboration. After Liberty of London's urgent pop-up shop pack up before its ending date, Target will be deeming Posen's 24-hour preview as a "shopping party." Aren't there enough parties in fashion already? The pop-up shop will begin April 15th at 11pm, but we expect the line formations to begin at 8pm or earlier for tuxedo-seeking shoppers. Can't make it? Well, too bad. But, if you want the shopping party leftovers, the full collection will be available April 25th in stores.

Meet Your New Brooklyn Barneys: Barneys Co-op has been shopping around for a Brooklyn location since December, finally finding a brownstone-like home at 194 Atlantic at the corner of Court. There are high hopes for this 6,300 square foot location, as this chic-luxe addition to the neighborhood should transform the street into a real powerhouse. Meanwhile, Brooklyn natives still have to travel waters to Manhattan until the new store opens during the second week of September. Rumor has it that this new Barneys will launch on Fashion's Night Out. Ideal, no?

Paris Fashion Week: The Clean Side

With dedication to the cleaner side of things during Paris Fashion Week, we've chosen 3 looks that designers showed with less fuss. But, we wouldn't bet their entire bevy spoke in the same volume.

Celine: Phoebe Philo's return to fashion through Céline may ultimately be the best thing since Hedi Slimane at Dior. We love Philo's simplistic approach towards everything contrast. The labels Fall 2010 bevy was a bit fuzzy in material, partnered with contrast colors of navy, black and white. Patent leather-like pockets were dandily placed at the hems of cute, loose frocks and skirts.
