SCENETRACKER The glass is always half full at Drink.
Drink: Chicago's New Nightclub

Located just outside of Palatine, the suburb most notably famous for housing the high school in which The Breakfast Club was filmed, a night club, Drink, is a refreshing oasis in a desert of otherwise inactivate nightlife. The Schamburg nightclub features ongoing dancing, hot DJs, cocktails and food. With the doors open at 2pm- 2am on Tuesday-Thursday, 5pm- 3am on Friday, and 7pm- 3am on Saturday, hundreds of bar-goers find themselves on the spacious dance floor while enjoying a world-class sound system and amazing local performers.

The ten dollar cover charge grants access to one of Chicagoland’s largest outdoor patios, which seat over 350 people, the “best” beer garden –as stated by Suburban Nitelife, and a Social Eats Menu –which features a plethora of appetizing Mediterranean, American and Asian features. At the forefront of the scene, there is also a large stage where they welcome club-goers to climb aboard, and there is a DJ pit hovering right above it. Drink’s selection of music is its true crown and glory, beyond its multi-dimension and mass of amenities. For hours, the DJ masterfully selects a variety of music that spans many genres and styles,

SCENETRACKER Evil Olive beckons bad behavior
Evil Olive Takes You to the Dark Side

The potentially seedy Wicker Park late-night hotspot is known all around for its exhibition of local talent and utilization of world-renowned performers. The dimly lit venue has a huge dance floor, two stories, a number of bars, a disco ball, glowing tables, and a dozen televisions… streaming porn. The blush-worthy, risqué and surreal environment is one of the most desired hotspots in area of Chicago.

Smoke machines churn out thick clouds, filling the entire nightclub with a tornado of exhaust. The cloaked atmosphere makes it the ideal location for evenings that are filled cloudy judgment. The establishment, which plays amazing music for hours on in (mostly hip hop, pop and rock), has its downfalls: confused bartenders, expensive drinks, crowded at the entry, $10 cover charge, and hardcore pornography on the screens above.

Historic Bars in Chicago

These five Historic Chicago Bars have withstood some of the Windy City’s greatest challenges, and welcomed some of its greatest traditions. And, many of these establishments survived one of nightlife’s greatest challenges, Prohibition. The Berghoff, Southport Lanes, Schaller’s Pump, The Back Room and Twin Anchors have stood the time for different reasons, but one thing they definitely have in common, is that they offer a good time.

The Berghoff

The 113-year old establishment, located in the heart of the loop, was owned and inspired by the beer brewing West German immigrant, Joseph Berghoff. In its heyday, the bar sold beer for nickels and offered free sandwiches to their patrons. And, when the prohibition affected Chicago nightlife, Berghoff kept its doors open, functioning as a full service restaurant, also selling ’near beer’. In 1969, Berghoff abandoned its ‘Men Only’ policy after member of the National Organization for Women stood at the bar and demanded service.
