CHRISTIAN DIOR
One of the things we love most about fashion is that past styles and trends tend to recycle themselves for today's runways and red carpets! It's like fashion's way of saying 'you're welcome' to the global community... and the looks are always fresh, inspiring and flying off the racks!
'40s and '50s inspired garments came down the catwalks in droves this year and we couldn’t be more excited! One of the biggest styles that captivated the fashionable era was figure-flattering Dior design called peplum. Highlighting the curves on every beautiful woman, a well-tailored cinch waist flatters in all the right places and exudes femininity and grace!
The history of fashion goes far beyond Anna Wintour’s reign as editor of American Vogue, Alexander McQueen’s humble beginnings at Savile Row, or Kate Moss’ first photo shoot for The Face. Fashion originated when people started choosing what they wore for style, attractiveness, and comfort rather than functionality or the purpose clothing served in their lifestyles. This can be traced back to the late 19th century and the first couturier, Charles Worth. He shifted the focus of fashion by becoming the proprietor of what was en vogue, sketching and creating original designs for his clientele rather than simply taking orders for their apparel needs. He paved the way for designers, not consumers, to be the dictators of fashion.

Everyone loves to dress up like their favorite celebrity, so who better to swag grab from then the couture influenced multi-Grammy nominee whose hottest looks are literally ripped from the runway. The model shown here is wearing one of the outfits shown in a Christian Dior fashion show nearly 3 years before the California Dream star made her first debut.
Sticks, stones, words, drunken honesty...it doesn't matter. You spew out hate, expect karma to bite you in the ass.
Iconic fashion designer John Galliano, 50, has been found guilty of the anti-Semitic comments to a couple he made back in February at La Perle bar in the Marais District in Paris.
The court ordered Galliano to pay 6,000 euros ( or $8,500) today in Parisian court. He was also ordered to pay a symbolic (?) one euro to one of the plaintiffs. However, the 6,000 euro fine has been suspended due to his constant apologies for his behavior, in the condition that he stay out of trouble in France for five years.
Remember a few years ago, Christian Dior attempted to have their own "DiorPhone?" Well it somewhat worked. Not really. Christian Dior is back again with the latest Dior mobile phone.
For a luxury branded mobile phone, it is not too shabby! The phone is your everyday chic and sleek touch-screen. The operating system on the phone uses Android. Therefore we can assume the phone has 3G, camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Google Maps.
Here is where the twist comes in, the phone comes in Glamorous Black, Dazzling Red, Pure White, and Shanghai Blue. And it is chiseled with sapphire crystals. You can find the phone at Colette. for €3900 or $5,000USD. Pretty cheap, huh?
Perhaps it was all the love (and ensuing weddings) floating through the summer air or maybe it was a dire need to find an escape from the scorching heat; whatever the inspiration was for the use of bright white hues and tones throughout this season's Couture collections, we salute it.
Never one for routine, Christian Dior put a major spin on classic white this couture season. Dior stayed true to its reputation of being a visionary genius by combining crisp whites with peachy pastels to show the true versatility of light hues, pairing interesting textures with even more interesting textures, and creating voluminoussilhouettes that literally pushed boundaries, or at least daintily brushed against them.
While the actual fashion of Christian Dior's Fall Collection may not have been a hit, the beauty looks were hard to miss. Although they may have been a little extreme, the heavy use of opaque shades were undoubtedly striking. Here are a few tips to create a more wearable version of the colorblock-style eyes:
1. Begin with a medium teal, similar to Inglot's 504. Apply the shade under the brow bone and on the upper lid.
There's no doubt that Dior has been over shadowed this year by the racist controversy (and subsequent departure) of its lead designer, John Galliano. Many wondered how this would affect the brand in the long term. For FW 11/12 Dior brought us a fantasy inspired catwalk featuring pieces caught somewhere in between Cirque Du Soleil and a birthday cake.
Dior has always pushed the envelope on the wearable factor, but this show may have teetered over the edge. It was not well-received, and NYT's Cathy Horyn went on to say, "All sorts of weird vibes, along with a lack of design leadership, have a way of surfacing in clothes. A runway is like a shrink’s couch; stuff just comes out."
Just like a little kid counting down the days until her next three day weekend, we cannot wait for the 4th of July to be here! Take a long, luxurious weekend this independence day, but make sure you do it in style. Whether your holiday plans consist of lounging on the beach, outdoor barbecuing or (God forbid) going into the office, we have something for everyone.
No matter what the occasion may be, a little white dress is always up for the task. If your 4th of July plans consist of lounging around and enjoying the sun, opt for something like this simple, flirty summer dress from Templerley London Resort 2012 collection. A solid white dress is a great starting piece for a fabulous July 4th wardrobe. Now, add some color into your look by sporting a navy blue 3.1 Phillip Lim leather tote or keep it simple with a turquoise Diane Von Furstenburg clutch. All that's left to do is put on some red lipstick and a pair of black heels and you're all set to celebrate America's independence in style.
