Electric Daisy Carnival Marred with Tragedy

This past weekend's sold-out Electric Daisy Carnival in Texas ended in chaotic tragedy, with more than 20 people rushed to local hospitals for a variety of heat, drug and alcohol emergencies. According to CNN, a 19-year old Dallas man was reported dead on arrival at Baylor University Medical Center. Reasons for his death are still under investigation.

Although there were three medical assistance stations in Texas's Fair Park, which hosts the Texas State Fair, around 9 PM a series of 911 calls began, sending at least 10 rescue units to the festival. The event, which was slated to run from 4 PM - 2 AM, was so packed that fire inspectors issued two citations, one for overcrowding, and another for failure to obey the order of the fire marshall, as party throwers refused to stop the music in order to help control the crowd. Finally, at 1:30, someone pulled the fire alarm and ended the madness. Although city officials commented that all air conditioning, security and safety procedures were in place, it is an unfortunate risk masses take when gathering together.
