March in Miami means music! For years now March has been the host of both Winter Music Conference as well as Ultra Music Festival, giving it a monopoly on the Miami music scene. Keeping with this tradition of world renowned DJs gracing the turntables of our favorite late night watering holes during the month of March, Wall Lounge at the W Hotel South Beach is bringing you an all-star lineup every night of the week. At the top of our list? Their Tuesday night party, Favela Beach.
Brought to you by Joonbug and OneFifty, Favela Beach has become an iconic South Beach party, and this month they have truly outdone themselves. Tonight, Tuesday March 1st, they will be kicking off the month with a tribute to the inspiration of the party itself, Brazil. With DJ Ruckus at the helm and the beauties from MEGA Models hosting, you won’t have to go all the way to Rio for an authentic Carnaval celebration. So wear your yellow and green and practice your Portuguese. The following week, Favela will bring you the hottest act for WMC, Louie & Anane Vega. This dynamic duo coupled with special guest performances by Josh Milan and Boddhi Satva will make it the hottest WMC party on the beach.

How has the role of the DJ transformed over recent years with the advent of live streaming and online listening?
While a handful of models are forthcoming about who they are dating, most like to keep things under raps and out of the limelight. Yet, in the May 2009 issue of Vogue, six models that you see gracing the glossy pages, runways and billboards on the daily are finally showing off more than just their assets: their boy toys. Pictured in the spread is model Doutzen Kroes and boyfriend DJ Ruckus, who met at a Vogue party in 2007 and have been a couple for over a year now.
Many models have significant others from meeting within the industry. Julia Stegner is with Steven Pan, Steven Meisel’s first assistant. Caroline Trentini and Victor Demarchelier first met while he was assisting father Patrick on a shoot with Caroline almost three years ago, while Arlenis Sosa Pena and fellow male model Rene Rodriguez met through their agent. Other models “showcased” are Chanel Iman with boyfriend rapper Tyga and Anna Maria Jagodzinska with econ grad student Duncan Winecoff. However they met and whomever is or is not in the limelight, it’s nice to see the counterparts of the every day household face.
