The Sapphire Foundation and Peter Feinster, the foundation's creator, will be hosting a charity poker and golf tournament at Sapphire New York and the New York Country Club, respectively, to raise money for prostate cancer. The Sapphire Foundation raises money for all aspects of prostate cancer: financial assistance for medical expenses, outreach and advocacy for getting tested, and support for prostate cancer survivors still burdened with continued health costs.
The poker tournament will take place Sunday, September 11th, and the golf tournament will take place the following day, Monday the 12th. The fundraiser first launched in Las Vegas, and after tremendous success out West, they've decided to come to the Big Apple to continue raising money for the second leading cause of cancer for males in the U.S.
Two seemingly different worlds collided Sunday night in South Florida during the Miami Dolphins season opener at Sun Life Stadium. I am not referring only to the two sets of football fans that came out to support their respective teams, one in support of the New York Jets and hailing from the cold north, and the other cheering on home team and local South Florida favorite, the Miami Dolphins, but of the traditional stadium experience and that of south beach nightlife. You will also require three (III) glasses to get through the more than 330 different bottles of wine the sommelier AJ Sosa, has carefully selected to compliment your dining experience. So, maybe you will need more than three utensils and glasses to try everything on the menu. I just couldn't resist the culinary reference to the unique name of the elegant, yet inviting restaurant that just opened in Gulfstream Park and Casino.
Champagne is the classic New Year’s Eve drink and Dom Pérignon Champagne is a classic label. This year, Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld designed a porcelain bowl inspired by Claudia Schiffer’s breast to sit atop porcelain Dom Pérignon bottles. In 1787, Marie Antoinette had a bowl made for her that legend says was the exact size of one of her breasts.
While I can’t confirm is this is case for Claudia Schiffer, the bowl does have both her and Lagerfeld’s signatures. So ring in 2009 with a bottle of 1995 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque and the porcelain bowl and bottle display will be yours for a modest $3,150.
