DON OMAR
The musical genre of Latin dance-rap known as Reggaeton has without a doubt exploded in the past 10 years, rising from the basements of Puerto Rico to the top of the pops worldwide. With major hits like Daddy Yankee's 2004 anthem 'Gasolina', or Don Omar's more recent song 'Danza Kuduro', it's no surprise that there's a rising youth culture surrounding the movement. Known as Reggaetoneros, members are known to sport mohawks, facial piercings, spikey hair, and make-up (regardless of gender). And, like any subculture, it's being heavily frowned upon by the mainstream society it's rebelling against.
Fast Five made a cannonball size splash last weekend with an 86.2 million dollar opening. Somehow despite Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s attempts to tank the movie with every line they hacked their way through, the movie was a huge success. The Brazilian themed version of the Italian Job took the audience on a bumpy and aggressive tour through the beautiful landscape of Rio De Janeiro. From shanty town foot races to open street, high-speed car chases - what the movie may have lacked in dialogue, was amply made up for in action. With that being said, it’s been reported that we will likely be seeing the summer dynamite bros Paul Walker and Vin Diesel pair up again and again for Fast 6 & 7.
