West 16th Street, the home of Dream Downtown, Maritime Hotel, and No. 8, seems to be facing crowding issues due to the extensive lines outside of the hot venues.
This area of the Meatpacking District is filled with hotspots, and more are on the way. To ensure that this doesn’t affect street traffic even more, The Business Licenses and Permits Committee of Community Board 4 is meeting with each new addition to see what their plans of traffic monitoring entail, reports DNAinfo.
Also known as La Fete Nationale, Bastille Day is the celebration of the 1790 uprising, Fete de la Federation. Do all things French on Saturday, from eating French foods (National French Fry Day was yesterday!) to partying like the French do! Kick off summer on Thursday, May 24th with the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children at their Annual Junior Committee Spring Benefit at the Dream Hotel Downtown. The evening will feature music, mingling, poolside cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres at The Beach. There will also be a silent auction for amazing items and experiences. Details below!

The Electric Room at the Dream Downtown was a major hit during New York Fashion Week, with high class after parties for noted designers such as Prabal Gurung, Ally Hilfiger's NAHM, and Time Weiland. Nur Khan's venue also hosted concerts by Guns N' Roses and The Kills. Celebrities and socialites alike flock to this downtown haven, including big name Olivia Palermo, Kellan Lutz, David Arquette, Nicky Hilton, Rose McGowan and more. The lounge is located on the 12th floor of the Dream Downtown and has amazing views of the city. Last night, BlackBook Magazine celebrated their milestone 15th birthday. That's fifteen years of blazing trails and featuring killer covers with a-list talent. A huge feat for a publication that has made it through the .com crash, recession and are still going strong. The festivities were held at the new Dream Downtown's PH-D rooftop lounge. The evening was sponsored by Tequila Don Julio and Heineken and featured music by Neon Indian and Das Racist. Special guests (outside of the birthday boys and girls) included Alexander Skarsgard, Kristin Bauer (True Blood), James Ransone (The Wire) and Estelle. The giftbags were stuffed with all sorts of goodies from Armani, Elizabeth Arden and Swarovski. Pop Chips (as usual) were also included. (Is it me or are Pop Chips taking over the world?)
Maneuvering the heat in Manhattan isn't always easy. The sun is shinning from every glass window and the asphalt is usually breathing out a hot spell. There's little ventilation and always being on the run isn't precisely great for avoiding perspiration. We'll tan on our rooftops, sprawl out in Central Park, but what we really want is, please God, a pool.
