EMMA WATSON
It's heeeeeeeeere. Or in Internet fanboy/fangirl speak: fjykthdgfjsgfkjsgfkskjjhsjdq!!!
We all knew it was coming, but never thought it would arrive so quickly! The last trailer for Warner Bros. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2 made its debut last night. After a decade full of wonderful films based on the book series by J.K. Rowling, the franchise will finally bid farewell to the silver screen. The epic finale is set to arrive in theaters 07/15/11, which is in 27 days...but who's counting?
As an avid Harry Potter fan who nevertheless cannot match the, ahem, more devoted fanatics out there, the hyperventilation was still very much in attendance as this article was being written. However, I confess to not watching Deathly Hallows Part 1 due to wanting to see both around the same time. Do not judge, it's how thee rolls.
After announcing in March that she was leaving Brown University, (she stayed for less than 18 months) Emma Watson finally talks about her choice. The actress makes it clear that rumors of bullying and others' jealousy of her fame were simply untrue.
She fires back, “Anyway, even if I was being given a hard time, I wasn’t going to wuss out of university because someone said ‘Wingardium leviosa’ to me in a corridor, or ‘Ten points for Gryffindor,’...I’ve been dealing with the media since I was nine. If I can’t stand up to a few people giving me a hard time, it’s a bit pathetic, really. I’ve had so much worse.” Well-said. Hermione would have said the same thing. Seems like the tough years in the spotlight has given Watson more education than any school could teach.
During last night’s MTV Movie Awards, we saw all of our favorite celebrities decked out in their best Award-worthy outfits. We saw everything from ball gowns to mini dresses to even rompers, and we loved them all (for the most part!). Some of the major trends highlighted were lace, animal print, and metallic designs. Here are our top 15 favorite looks from this year’s event...
1. Selena Gomez’s Giambattista Valli-designed look topped our list. The Disney starlet opted for light, summery-toned separates and a clutch designed by Cecilia. She told MTV's red carpet reporter and Project Runway alum Christian Siriano that as soon as she saw the trendy, but age-appropriate look, she was sure it the one!
We talk a lot about Emma Watson these days. Last week she said she was taking a break from Brown to focus on her professional career and we now understand why! She has just been named the latest ambassador for the French cosmetics brand Lancôme.
Youcef Nabi, president of the company, said in a statement: "Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation. We are delighted by the new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme.”
Watson is the youngest ambassador that Lancôme ever had. She follows in the footsteps of Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway or Kate Winslet.
When you're a world wide known teenager and when you're part of one of the most successful movie franchises in Hollywood history, it's hard to combine school and professional career. That's why the Harry Potter star decided to take a hiatus from Brown University. She posted a comment on her website today to explain herself and her upcoming plans:
"As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.
The March issue of Vogue is its most powerful yet. The cover sets the tone, as Lady Gaga wears a powdered wig and oversized karate suit cinched with a gold karate belt. In karate, the belt's color depicts the level of your competence. It comes as no surprise that Gaga, the almighty rule breaker, would stray from the given belt colors to create her own hue, as Vogue’s March issue is all about empowering women.
An article titled, Beauty And The Beast, tells the story of Aung San Suu Ky, a Burmese opposition leader and symbol of hope for her people who was put under house arrest for 22 years. Another article, Unbearable Lightness, delves into the life of Zoe FitzGerald Carter, who found refuge in starvation as a child to shield the verbal abuse of her mother. With her inner strength, Zoe gets healthy, but years later her mother falls sick from militant eating habits. Her mother’s need to be thin and the choice to starve results in death, but Zoe was able to find peace, let go, and accept her mother for who she was.
Tadashi Shoji's Spring 2011 presentation at Lincoln Center was a display of living art.
Inspired by the Renaissance frescos of Piero della Francesca and Botticelli, the line truely explored all things romantic, elegant, and ultra-feminine.
An icy cool color palate mixed with textured neutrals was the trend for his Spring line. Colors like, ivory, sandstone, ice, and lavender accentuated dresses detailed with lace, silk chiffon, and intricate embroidery. Waist-accenting cuts, and flirty neck-lines made each piece all the more desirable.
Okay, I know we promised you that Alex Watson would walk in Burberry Men's fashion show after his debut in the label's Spring 2010 ads with sibling Emma Watson - but, that's what the rumors had promised us! He did, however, sit front row at the show (looking very attractive, might I add) with a couple of buddies - some whom have walked for Burberry in previous seasons.
Nonetheless, Burberry continued to dabble its masculinity with feminity - offering lean silhouttes bombarded with voluminous outerwear.
Christopher Bailey expressed his attraction towards utilitarian efforts with staple colors and fun cuff details.
And then there were the shoes, which looked quite dreadful (in my own opinion), but definitely desirable by cold weather standards.
As if models are essentially being discovered anymore - at least that's not the case when you have a celebrity sibling as face of a major fashion house. Go, girlfriend. Emma Watson recently posed for Burberry's Spring 2010 campaign aside her brother, Alex Watson. Rumor has it, one thing led to another and another and another onto Christopher Bailey's decision making desk - landing brother Alex a spot to walk in Burberry's upcoming fall menswear show. Luckily, he's adorable and has the perfect shoulders to carry a purse - oops, I meant manbag. Now let's toast to a possible blooming career for the young lad.
19-year-old Emma Watson decides its time to say bye bye to her magic wand, and hello to dark makeup. Marilyn Manson has sought out the Potter celeb to play a princess in an upcoming musical in which he’s producing, about a Goth-styled Cinderella story. Sounds like this one’s graduating from high school AND Harry Potter, as she begins to pick more bold roles, proving her maturity. Marilyn Manson + Emma Watson = one big oxymoron to me, but who knows, this strange combination of famed individuals may surprise people. Watch out Emma, we don’t want to see you cross over to the dark side with Manson! The wizard hottie will also be attending Brown University in the fall. Best of luck to her in all of her future endeavors…
