And they know what they're doing! After glancing at me for a mere 5 seconds, they were able to instantly pick out two frames that fit my face perfectly.

Youthquake! The 1960s Fashion Revolution
Just as the ’60s were a revolutionary period for politics and youth culture throughout the world, the era redefined fashion. "Once only the rich, the Establishment, set the fashion. Now it is the inexpensive little dress seen on the girls in High Street," British designer and boutique owner Mary Quant has said of the transition. London's mod scene and American hippies began setting trends—dressing for self-expression, blurring traditional lines of gender identity, embracing sexuality and new silhouettes. Youthquake! explores the decade with an exhibition that showcases garments and historical footage. (NYCGO)
Up and coming designer Danilo Gabrielli hosted his launch party on March 15th at Yotel in celebration of his Fall/Winter 2012 Collection. Among the party goers were friends, editors, models, and journalists, all there to congratulate the talented designer. Two of his models were in attendance, showcasing his exquisite designs, inspired by 1940's Old Hollywood glam.
The event was sponsored by American Airlines, who was there raffling off free flights. DJ Phoecus provided beats while artists painted fashion portraits for guests. But the real highlight of the night was getting to chat it up with the man of the hour himself!
Ex-pat Corrie Nielsen paid homage to her Scottish roots with her A/W '12 collection, Vestiarium Scoticum. Neilsen's signature Tudor sensibility and structure were present, this time in tartan plaid. A drone of bagpipes could be heard as models took the stage in pencil skirts and tailored coats in the traditional Highland tartan, matched with puffy pleated sleeves and Elizabethan collars. A plaid print was even slashed across models' foreheads.
Headwear rivaled tartan for stand out element of the collection. Tiny Renaissance caps, veils, spiked headpieces and feathers were showcased on hair pulled back in sleek buns.

Fashion week is over and we’re left yearning for things we may never be able to afford or be able to wear without causing a scene. We just can’t afford things like Bart Simpson haute couture by Jeremy Scott and it’s not exactly practical everyday wear. That, however, is what fashion week is all about. It’s pining for unbelievably beautiful or weird things and it’s inspiring. It’s hard not to see new fashion and be inspired to change things up. Few things from actual fashion shows can make their way into our closets, but for fans of fanciful accessories there is one.
Not only is Micheal Kors leading the world in fashion, he is also leading the world into a better place. Throughout his career, Michael Kors has created stylish pieces, handbags, scarfs, watches, etc, donating a portion of the proceeds to researching cures for breast cancer. Kors had made generous donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Mass General Cancer Center, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), to name just a few.
"My assistant in the '80s grew up in a family where three generations all died of breast cancer. She was in her 20s and healthy but thinking about having a mastectomy. So we started thinking of how we could make noise about the issue,” said Micheal Kors. (Courtesy of Marie Claire Magazine)
