Futur Couture: Amazing Mixed Media Portraits

Fashion photography has already brought us some some out of this world creations, and we’re not just talking about the clothes they’re supposed to be displaying. While the majority of what we see in catalogues and magazines are static photos, fashion photography has always been an art. Some photo spreads tell impossible stories. Models can be skydiving, underwater, on the moon, or lost in nature. You name it and it’s been done. That’s why we were pleasantly surprised to see some fashion photos that still surprised us and made us want to see more. Matt Wisniewski brings a little of the absurd back to fashion photography in his series Futur Couture.

Annie Leiovitz Still In Debt; Another Lawsuit!

The saying, 'everything that glitters isn't gold,' rings particularly true when we think of famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz.

The photographer who shoots for major publications such as Vogue and Vanity Fair - remember the darling nude pregnancy photos she shot of Angelina Jolie? - can't seem to recover from a crucial crisis of debt. You'd think someone of her caliber would be set. And why not? If Terry Richardson can move on, Leibovitz should be far past her financial stumble.

Model Breakdown: Caroline Trentini

Caroline Trentini was born on July 6th, 1987 in Rio Grande de Sul, Brazil. Caroline was brought up in a single parent home after the passing of her father and was unexpectedly discovered at the age of 13 while walking down the street. This was no ordinary occurrence because she was discovered by the same model scout that scooped up Gisele Bundchen, perhaps an omen of the enormous success Trentini would have in her later modeling career. The discovery sparked a move to the model town of Sao Paolo and eventually New York City where Trentini couldn’t speak English but was fluent in the language of modeling.

Iris Strubegger Brings A Touch Of Class to V Magazine

The latest issue of V magazine sees Iris Strubegger, better known as the face of Valentino, working the androdgynous look to perfection in this dark editorial.

Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, the Austrian model ignored the summer temperatures to preview Fall fashions including a fur coat and thigh-high rain boots topped off, bizarrely, by a pair of white fishnet tights over the top. The shoot, entitled A Touch of Class, is a high-fashion take on an aristocratic uniform mixing the masculine ‘hunter’ style of the rainboots and high-waisted pants with the glamour of the oversized shoulder pads and dress coats.

Fashion Tale Debuts Summer Issue

A new David Roemer shoot for Fashion Tale magazine, featuring top model Lydia Hearst and her Elite model pals, is Roemer’s über stylish take on the latest spring summer trends. The Swedish magazine, created by Carl-Axel Wahlstrom, brings to life the fashion that will haunt long summer days via Roemer’s strong attention to color, the innate fashion sense of stylist Christopher Campbell, and the New York City Standard Hotels’ ability to offer itself up as the perfect blank canvas location.

Madonna Models for Louis Vuitton

When picking superstar Madonna as the face of Louis Vuitton, designer Marc Jacobs knew he wanted to turn heads. The Fall 2009 campaign for the luxury brand is like nothing we've ever seen before. The ad, photographed by Steven Meisel, can make you love the 'material girl' and the high-end brand more or make you feel like you took acid. Either way, I find the campaign entertaining. The campaign introduces five new Louis Vuitton handbags and shows the public that you can model at any age. By the way, Madonna is turning 51 this August.

Dazed and Confused with Supermodel Georgina Stojilkovic

A fashion editorial has never been more freighting and eye catching at the same time; ‘The Ultimate Robot Is Invincible in the Armour of the Autumn / Winter Collections’ photographed by Mark Pillai tells the eerie story of a female robot who seems to change with every photo. What makes this editorial stand out is that the styling is so futuristic, putting Fall 2009 clothes into character. Mark Pillai takes complicated structured garments and makeup and turns it into a visual story. Supermodel Georgina Stojiljkovic does a great job at capturing the essence and the emotion of her character. *I would not recommend trying these looks at home.
