FASHION SHOW
Last night, Caitlin Kelly, an up-and-coming swimwear designer, held an exclusive preview runway show on the rooftop of 2 Gold Street. Caitlin graduated from FIT and has since designed for Badgley Mischka, Target, AH Schreiber, and was the head designer for Aerin Rose Swimwear. Her line was so well received that the owner of Jordan Taylor Inc. offered her the opportunity to create her own high end swimwear collection. The exclusive preview last night was the result of that opportunity and she will be showing her Spring/Summer 2013 collection again at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami this July.
Breathe LA will be hosting their second annual, eco-friendly charity fashion show on March 8 at the J Lounge in downtown Los Angeles, in support of environmental education and outreach, clean air, asthma control and research, and healthy living standards. The show will be preceded by a cocktail party featuring VIP Lounge, a silent auction, and much more!. After the main event, a post-show party featuring music and dancing will follow the show at 10:00 p.m. Designers will include Yotam Solomon, Moods of Norway, and Louis Verdad. Fashion lovers and party-goers alike should flock to this amazing opportunity for philanthropy combined with entertainment and cutting-edge fashion.
Andy Hilfiger (brother of Tommy) and Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler blur the lines between fashion and music to create this latest rock–inspired clothing brand, Andrew Charles. The line recently launched at Macy’s and is exclusive to their “high-end” Impulse Department. Tyler and his 22-year-old daughter Chelsea star in the look book and a series of ads promoting the line.
Inspiration for the collection comes from all things rock & roll. Tyler’s self-described “freak style” was very apparent, but you can clearly see traces of other legendary rock styles from icons like Guns N’ Roses and the Rolling Stones.

This past Monday Nolcha Fashion week featured many incredible designers, ranging from "Carrie Parry" to "Afia". Don Q Rum made another appearance along with Kiss, KROMA natural makeup, and Paul Mitchell. There were three different fashion shows which featured new designers. I attended the most glamorous, elegant, third session at 7PM.
The 7pm Runway show featured newly launched designers and jewelry accessories from Maleku (which were amazingly beautiful). Here's a recap of the amazing indie designers we got a first look at:

There are several events that fashion insiders have marked on their social calendar for this upcoming spring and summer season. The Green Ribbon Cutting on May 3, 2011 at the Palm Court Restaurant in anticipation of the Gem Collection by designer Quinton de'Alexander is certainly one of them.

Fashion designer Guo Pei, known for her Chinese designs has topped the records with her designs for the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza 2010. She has strongly reflected Chinese culture in her work of art. Every piece that she has designed is able to stand on its own as the highlight of the runway.
On another note, she sure does know what HIGH heels are. In ancient China, women embraced a piece of wood to their feet and simply, walked. Guo Pei has taken it to the next level, stepping up the beauty of her high heels but making them even higher than anticipated. Her collection not only has traditional Chinese influence with the high heels, but her head pieces are beyond imaginable. Although the hairstyles and headpieces used have so much detail in them, it does not replace the eye-catching dresses that she has designed. Be on the lookout for more extraordinary designs!
