Last night, the Swedish DJ and producer Style of Eye completely took over Ultrabar in Washington D.C. Known mostly for his high energy and ability to put on killer shows, Style of Eye, once again, delivered a knock-out performance. Those lucky enough to be in attendance experienced a truly epic night of music.
Style of Eye stayed true to his motto, “Music, not genres,” with last night’s set. This is to say, his music does not fall into any one genre. Rather, he keeps things interesting through his insane musical ingenuity. He played a set that flowed so beautifully despite the plethora of surprises thrown in. The crowd was exhilirated, never knowing what was coming next. His latest single with Tom Staar, ‘After Dark’, was a crowd favorite. Some other highlights included his collaboration with Rebecca & Fiona, ‘Taken Over’, along with Fatboy Slim & Riva Starr’s ‘Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat’. Style of Eye also kept things banging with ‘Devour’ and 'Headlights'. He wrapped up the night with thrilling renditions of some unexpected tracks, leaving the crowd at Ultra bar thirsty for more.

Insomniac understands electronic music. The concert production company has spent the last two decades bringing EDM to new popularity heights with festivals across the country, including their iconic music-festival-meets-amusement-park Electric Daisy Carnival.
Born in 2007 as a one-day festival in Southern California, Electric Daisy Carnival offers house heads a chance to see their favorite DJs whilst riding ferris wheels, bumper cars, carousels and more.
Since its creation, the festival has grown exponentially in size, traveling from coast to coast with stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Dallas, Orlando, and most recently last weekend when it debuted at MetLife Stadium for EDC New York.
The madness, mayhem, and musical excellence that is EDC has finally bequeathed its best kept secret: its absolutely epic NYC lineup! Featuring 4 stages, over 50 artists, and occurring over 3 days, the sickest EDM festival in the US has not disappointed. While the full lineup can be viewed below, honorable mention must be made of the monstrous names appearing throughout the fest--beginning with the headliners!
Friday’s headliners include Armin van Buuren, Fatboy Slim, and Chase & Status. Meanwhile, Saturday is shaping up to be the crown jewel of the whole affair as Avicii, Sebastian Ingrosso, Calvin Harris, Alesso, Steve Angello, and John Digweed are set to melt face and headline the whole shebang. Lastly, Sunday tears down the house with headliners Afrojack, Bassnectar, Nero, R3HAB, and a yet unannounced “Very Special Guest”!

After discovering house music in 2010, I dabbled in the different sects of electronica and found myself in love. In March of 2011, I made my official crossover from rap-enthusiast to househead when I attended Ultra Music Festival. Nearly a year later, I cannot wait to return to my stomping grounds and once again bask in the harmonious music and beating sunshine.
Last year’s festival was an incredible experience, but as a newbie, I had a lot to learn. The low-point of my weekend was when my ticket was ripped off of the lanyard strewn around my neck by a drunken fool. The maniac grabbed the ticket that was hanging above my chest, and ran. Luckily, my mother had always instilled within me the importance of self-defense, so I lunged at the crazy kid who attempted to steal the $275 ticket and returned the item to its rightful owner... me.
For many, there's nothing better than the thought of beating the winter blues by sitting poolside, sipping cocktails, and soaking up sunshine; as your luxury cruise ship sails around the blue waters of the Caribbean. But this New Year, some may beg to differ.
In a spirit that pushes the envelope and perhaps foreshadows the massiveness of 2012 that is to come, Holy Ship! sets sail today, January 6th, well-equipped with all of the above, and a bit more. Ever wanted to rave barefoot on a private white sand beach? Play poker with Steve Aoki? The world-class cruise liner MSC Poesia redefines upping the ante by providing guests with five on-board venues, multiple world-class DJs and 2,500 of their new best friends. Fatboy Slim, Laidback Luke, Skrillex, A-Trak are just a few among many that will hit the decks on the decks, and around the clock music will have passengers dancing up a storm, whether from their private cabins below or up above overlooking the Caribbean Sea. If a break from dancing is needed, the on-board spa is equipped with a steam room and Turkish bath, and, for any experienced festival goer, the concept of a post-show massage as luxurious as it gets.
Heading down to the Big Easy is always a favorite time for us (my fiancé’s a New Orleanian) so when I caught wind of lineup addition’s Snoop Dog and Girl Talk, I knew we had to go. The trek to Voodoo began last Thursday, October 27th, when we flew from NYC to Nola, in excited anticipation of the opening day. After a day of walking around the quarter, hitting up the flea market, costume shops, and snagging a few beignets at Café du Monde, we headed over to check in at the Hotel Monteleone and went to bed early (and yes, it's New Orleans, and drinking is everyone’s part-time job there, but we were too exhausted to go guzzle hurricanes that night).
When the neighborhood kids have given up on trying to pry the last few Tootsie Rolls out of your plastic pumpkin candy basket, or after you just put your own little ones to bed in the wake of a sugar rush, let your goulish side come out on the dance floor this Halloween weekend. The HARD Haunted Mansion lineup is stacked with some of the world's best DJs, so come out whether you're in full costume or simply want to dance away the ghastly screams of the local youth.
Fatboy Slim will headline Friday night, supported by heavy hitters such as Rusko and Laidback Luke. Soulwax and Skrillex are Saturday's marquee performers, not to mention Major Lazer, Scream+Benga, and a dozen other artists guaranteed to get your alcohol-fueled body moving. V Squared Labs will provide the visuals, and seeing as it's Hallow's Eve, expect every beam of flourescent light to be appropriately spooky.

The best day of the week is finally here: FRIDAY. And to help you kick off the weekend, here's a list of tunes that sure to get you pumped and ready for the evening festiviites: whether you're in your room deciding what to wear to Pacha tonight, jamming to your iTunes driving down the Queensboro Bridge, or having your personal pregame dance party on the 6 train subway...no discretion required. Just rock out.
