FNO
With so many options out there it can be hard to pick just one thing to do in NYC. Luckily for you, we've narrowed it down to some awesome upcoming events and specials that you should not miss!
Gotham Burlesque is at it again...this time with special guest star Dirty Martini. September 1st at 10pm brings you the spiciest Labor Day Weekend around with New York's sexiest show. Headliner Angie Pontani is sure to bring the house down with her sultry moves, along with fellow dancers Peekaboo Point, Bettina May, Nasty Canasta, Medianoche, Pinkie Special, and Albert Cadabra. The show will be hosted by *Bob*, with special appearance by Dangrrr Doll. Head to The Triad for a night to remember. Ticket prices range from $35-$45 and can be purchased here.
Fashion’s Night Out, the much-anticipated annual event in which shoppers, bloggers, designers, retailers, photographers, and editors alike take to the streets to shop, party, and celebrate fashion all night long is getting even bigger. Courtesy of our fearless fashion leader Anna Wintour, (she created the big night in 2009 to boost retail in a slumping economy) FNO events have been popping up across the nation from Charleston, SC to Kansas City, MO. Not only is FNO the biggest party to kickoff fall/winter New York Fashion Week, it’s a fashion ‘holiday’ that connects the industry no matter where you are celebrating. It’s kind of like the New Year’s of fashion—the party gets bigger the more people you know are joining in!
What a night on Fashion's Night Out! First stop was Nolcha FNO. Walking into Opia I felt mislead and confused but I made my way to the top and walked into a huge space of designers, their clothes, and their models. It was glamorous. First up,
Adriana-Marie Co:
Adriana-Marie has taken inspirational words to another level. Her American, organically made vintage tee shirt line could make someone's heart melt. Her line is simply out of the goodness of her heart. Not only is she creating the sweetest phrases on her colorful tees but she's recently partnered with Elena. Elena is a main contributor to the devastated women of Haiti for more details on this cause, go to www.dressesforhaiti.com. The two paired together for a fashionable and worthwhile effort. After waiting impatiently in traffic for 45 minutes, I finally arrived at Dagny + Barstow! Mind you it was only 45 minutes before they were scheduled to close. To my surprise (and luck), the doors were locked and the lights were dim! So I paced and waved then finally Emily Titelman, one of the owners, gladly let me in. She was the sweetest host and I had a blast. Emily and her crew were exhausted. They had a great night of sales, music, and great customers. All together, "we had a good night and we had fun." Emily said. Although the D.B. crew were ready to hit the hay, they were cool enough to let me hang around to look at the clothes, the awesome "hat" wall (which I fell in love with), the DJ booth, the blue velvet couch, and the awesome art hung on the walls by "ArtStar."
Local restaurants and businesses were not to be left out of the fun during this year's Fashion Night Out in NYC. Many even paired up with large brands for FNO festivities offering delicious snacks & drinks to partygoers. Hope you shared the love with some of the city's favorite small businesses:
GUESS teamed up with NYC's original dessert truck CupcakeStop at their Midtown and SoHo locations. The truck handed out over 1000 cupcakes from 6-10 pm to excited shoppers who also enjoyed mini-manicures and makeovers at the store.
Buzz for (yet) another exciting Fashion’s Night Out event was released this week. If there is any free space left on your September 8th agenda, we highly recommend stopping by Realm, one of our favorite SoHo boutiques, who will be hosting a serious roster of femme fatales. Fashion “bloggettes” Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller and Susie Lau of Style Bubble, DJ Chelsea Leyland, and singer-songwriter Lissy Trullie will all be making an appearance throughout the evening from 6-11p.m. As admirers of all senses of style present, we’re excited to hear that these special guests will be helping shoppers style Realm merchandise! Designer collections from Jean Claude Jitrois, Thierry Mugler, and Alexis Mabille will all be up for grabs accompanied by sartorial advice from the above. Owner Randi Jacobson on this year's line-up, "We are thrilled to have such great girls join Realm for FNO this year - such an exciting mix of modern style icons for us all!" We already know Realm throws a great party based on last year’s FNO appearance by Blake Lively. It’s becoming more and more difficult to manage our schedules for next Thursday – but we know this is one party not to be missed!
Lauren Conrad has been quite the fashionista this past year! Last February, she debuted her Paper Crown line and continues to release her line with Kohl's every season. So, it only makes sense that she is going to be a big part of LA's Fashion's Night Out!
Lauren and long time pal Whitney Port shot a PSA last week for LA FNO in order to bring awareness to a great cause! In the PSA, LC is rocking her usual bright-eyed look and looks adorable in the official FNO T-shirt (buy one for yourself and 40% of the proceeds go to the NYC AIDS Fund!)
With Fashion Week fast approaching, we are starting to get very restless! To add to the excitement, Fashion's Night Out has finally revealed the list of retailers that will be participating in the 2011 shopping spectacular! Over 900 stores in the NYC area will be open the night of September 8th, 2011, inviting shoppers from all over to come shop and mingle with tons of celebrities, designers, and stars. The best fashion party in history is just weeks away! Start planning your night now online or with FNO's app for Iphone and Android.
It was a red carpet experience last night at Fashion's Night Out at Sephora on 5th Avenue. With complimentary treatments and treats, it was certainly pappering you could get used to. Eager guests stuck it out on the line that extended to both sides of the double doors, before entering an overwhelming and lively scene.
Starting at 6 p.m. Dr. Gross, founder of Dr. Gross Skincare, wowed the crowd with his skin consultations which normally cost around $250. His best tip for a girl after a night on the town like this: never go to sleep with makeup on, drink lots of water and don't drink coffee after 4 p.m. so that you can catch up with sleep the following night.
September 10 | 12pm - 9:30pm
