FOOD EVENTS
Don't miss out on the 2nd annual Tasting Brooklyn, an event bringing together foodies from, you guessed it, Brooklyn! On April 3rd from 5:30-9pm at the Dumbo Loft, the hottest restaurants in the borough will gather round and serve up some of their specialties including top-notch restos like Maison Premiere, The Meatball Shop, Littleneck, The Saint Austere, Kiwiana, Fort Reno,
The Chocolate Room, and more. Drinks will be poured by Brooklyn Oenology, Brooklyn Winery, Sixpoint Beer, Bulldog Gin, Honeydrop Beverages and Brooklyn Soda works and the proceeds will benefit the Brooklyn Food Coalition, which promotes healthy eating practices to Brooklynites.
When you tell people where you live, the last thing you want to hear is "I don't think I've been there. Is it in New Jersey?"
Brooklyn blogger Ned Berke has heard it all, and he's determined to get his Brooklyn neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay noticed. The 27 year-old's local news blog, Sheepshead Bites, has snagged 20 local restaurants to create the biggest tasting this side of the East River. And while organizing restaurant owners can be reminiscent of cat herding, this herd looks delicious.
How many events provide the opportunity to eat great food while looking at fantastic art AND support a good cause? The Art of Eating Well, hosted by Nourishing NYC, combines all three. The fundraiser will take place on July 28th at the William Bennet Gallery in trendy SoHo.
Nourishing NYC is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate the correlation between low-income and unhealthy foods. They provide nutritional, well-balanced meals to impoverished and hungry New Yorkers while also educating others on how to make healthy choices.

What is better than bread? Give me two pieces of bread, and the culinary possibilities are limitless. Unfortunately, bread has taken a lot of heat from dieticians. Told to go on a diet, sans bread, many a loaf has been left to mold. Don't worry bread lovers, there are quite a few people who have not forgotten the importance of the bad-mouthed staple of the food pyramid. Some have even done good by it.
