Made in the Shade: Summer Hats You'll Love

Now that spring has officially sprung, we’ve turned our attention towards re-vamping our wardrobes for the warmer months. Along with pastel accessories, neon jeans, and peplum-adorned tops, one of the top items on our “Must Have List” this spring is a fabulous hat with a brim wide enough to shade our faces from the sure-to-happen blistering heat.

This straw fedora holds its shape wonderfully and has a wider brim than a standard-issue fedora. The red grosgrain ribbon is also a great, classic embellishment.

Holiday Party Style Guide: Splurge vs. Steal

You’ve received your first (of many) holiday party invitation (s). Check. You’ve started looking through your closet for what to wear. Check. You want new outfits. Check. We’re here to help make that happen, for all 100% of you (!), with our holiday style guide of affordable vs. high-end looks that will make you a show-stopper at any party you attend this season.

Sleek & Sexy:

Pairing a sleek dress with a fun pair of sparkly heels has holiday party written all over it. We’re loving this purple satin dress from Dolce & Gabbana (left, $1,385) and these glitter platform pumps from Jimmy Choo (left, $745). Can’t quite swing the prices? Good news: find a similar look from H&M (dress, $40) and Wet Seal (heels, $30) for a fraction of the cost. Throw in some fun accessories and you’re ready to go!

Blazers: Splurge vs. Steal

There’s nothing like a sexy blazer to complete your fall look. Pair with slacks and you’re ready for the office! Or wear one over your favorite party dress for a stylish (yet cozy) night out on the town. Sometimes splurging on a high-end piece seems well worth the extra bucks (minus the shopper's remorse), so if you love fashion as much as we do (translation: you’re constantly restocking your wardrobe), owning a variety of designer blazers can get a bit pricey. Below, you’ll find five of our favorite designer jackets and next to them their affordable (alternative) siblings.

GLAM DAMN IT Yves Saint Laurent Resort 2012
Runway to Real Way: All Aboard for Resort 2012

You don’t have to spend your summer sailing a luxurious yacht to look like you were. Some of fashion's most beloved designers are all setting sail for an iconic nautical look for Resort 2012. Yves Saint Laurent designer, Stefano Pilati, showcased an elegant collection with sophisticated looks with sailor friendly accents throughout. The Moschino Resort 2012 collection followed suit with tailored navy blazers paired with pops of red on a mostly clean white palette. Whether it’s the sleek high waist, button adorned trousers or the embroidered anchors, we certainly cannot wait to cruise away with these designs.

Attention Hot Chicks, Shop at hauteChix!

We all know them. Those adorable, little boutiques nestled into the cutest corners of cities and towns everywhere. With their unique clothing and accessories, these shops sing a different tune than, say, the ultra-chain brands that can be found in every mall, ever (cough, Forever 21, cough...). Not that we dislike those big name stores, but there's something nice about those little, original boutiques that sends shoppers to paradise. Unfortunately, we all know the dishearteningly sky-high numbers that their price tags tend to bear, too.

Shop In An Orderly Fashion

Vintage shopping can be stressful. We brave our LA heat and take the ensuing blast of frosty air con units, to find a store full of three summers ago, Forever 21 purses, bearing the sharpied initials of their previous owner. And how many times have we left stores empty handed, because we were seriously tired of RUMMAGING through mountains of clothing?

All we desire is a great vintage store, with true vintage brands, in a well ordered selection. So we were very relieved to find that new store, "What Goes Around Comes Around' (WGACA) on La Brea, is exactly that. The huge store space, with its polished wooden beamed ceilings and floors, cute and quirky shelving displays and gleaming glass cabinets make for a stress free retail experience.

GLAM DAMN IT Cameron Diaz
Style Stalker: Cameron Diaz

Cameron Diaz arrived at Hotel Villamagna in Madrid on June 13 for the premiere of her latest movie, Bad Teacher, looking adorable (as usual). Fore-going the usual cocktail dress, she paired a casual white Elizabeth James belted jumper with a washed-out red textured blazer and nude Sergio Rossi strappy sandals.

Cameron always manages to look easy-going and relaxed on the red carpet. We love how she dresses according to her mood --not tradition. She's always suspect to show up to a ritzy event in a casual get-up any day. We love that confidence and unpredictability. So, let's get to work on this look!
