FRAGRANCE
What a perfect combination of happiness and excitement! Katrina LaPenne is back again but with Anne McCain from MCMC Fragrances. This amazing duo paired up to create the perfect feminine essential: lockets filled with solid perfume to hold close to your heart. The solid perfume, made of jojoba oil and melted beeswax, is infused with a floral scent created by MCMC and housed inside the locket making it the most stunning functional accessory of the season.
What do Tory Burch and Tyra Banks both have in common, aside from being mega fashion icons? They are the latest fashion industry celebrities to branch out their brands into beauty by launching fragrances!
New York City-based designer Tory Burch was rumored early this year to have been in talks with Estée Lauder in regard to launching her own fragrance. But it is hearsay no more since Tory Burch officially announced she will be partnering with Aramis Designer Fragrances, a division of the Estée Lauder Companies that also developed fragrances for Michael Kors, Coach, and DKNY, to put out her own scent. Tory Burch's venture into beauty may be news to us, but she assures, "For me, beauty was part of the plan since the beginning, especially fragrance." Burch's fragrance will hit shelves in 2013.
WWD reports that Tom Ford has partnered with Estee Lauder Cosmetics, Inc. to launch a 132-piece makeup and skincare collection! Our first thought was, "It's about time." Tom Ford is a man who epitomizes beauty, so (in our opinion) it's a natural progression. Frankly, we're surprised it didn't happen sooner! Ford dabbled in cosmetics previously with his 12-piece Private Blend Lip Color Collection and apparently wanted to do an entire line while at Gucci, but according to WWD, "they weren't convinced he had a voice in color until his lipsticks started selling out again and again." Really? Seems like a no-brainer to us. We love you, Gucci, but you were soo wrong on that one!
You are wearing your sexiest threads: Your skirt is sitting well up your thighs and your blouse is open just that one button too many. Your heels are vertiginous and in the perfect shade of valentine red, which –by coincidence- matches your ruby colored pout. As you go to dab your wrists with fragrance, you hesitate, which scent do I wear?
For the girl who likes to walk on the wild side, Gucci’s ‘Guilty’, gives just the right amount of wrong. Innocent lilac and geranium, fruity mandarin and peach, spicy pink pepper, sultry patchouli and lust-invoking amber, combine to give a scent which is sexy and daring, yet, has at its heart a feminine vulnerability.
Finding the perfect winter scent is no easy task, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t fun. Find time to set aside and make a few trips to your favorite department of cosmetic store. Test various fragrances and find what works best with your body’s natural chemistry. Take your time, as perfumes change and smell different on everyone. Remember that your winter scent shouldn’t be too icy or crisp. Woodsy or spicy fragrances with a musky base evoke warm thoughts and memories, perfect for getting close to someone. Your perfect fragrance should melt into your natural scent. When you find the perfect scent, you’ll just know.
Why oh why is this child creating a fragrance line? Beats me!
The teen heartthrob Justin Bieber is currently working on his own perfume for women to drive his female fans crazy. He hasn't released the name of the perfume yet (do we even want to know?) but we do know it will be sold in high end department stores in Summer 2011. The artist is very confident about his scent and is sure that it will be a hit with the ladies!
Bieber reportedly said that if he could have any woman wear his fragrance, it would be Beyonce.
We should have guessed this was coming after he created a nail polish line. The boy must be a little confused about his masculinity people!
Jennifer Aniston launched her first-ever fragrance, Jennifer Aniston, at UK department store Harrods in London Tuesday night. She describes the perfume as having a “sexy, clean smell,” inspired by her memory of the scent of jasmine on summer evenings growing up in California. “To be honest, I’m not a big perfumey kind of a girl,” Aniston said. But the sexiest thing about Aniston’s new scent is her black and white ad for the perfume in which she poses topless on a rocky beach. Although Katy Perry just released her new perfume, Purr, and Lady Gaga is rumored to be launching a fragrance, we’re excited for Aniston’s clean, non-perfumey scent to hit the States soon.
Changes At W Magazine: W Magazine - which doesn't have an editor-in-chief - will soon be searching for one after Conde Nast's plan to cut the magazine's ties to WWD. The two publications were known for sharing staff, Bridget Foley and Patrick McCarthy most notably, with the exception of W's publisher, Gina Sanders. Senior staff of W, including Foley and McCarthy, will now work exclusively for WWD. W Magazine, which was down 45.8% in ad sales for 2009, also was removed from Conde Nast subgroup Fairchild Fashion Group. Conde Nast CEO Chuck Townsend says, "This formally establishes a structure for W consistent with our other consumer magazine titles, and allows FFG the autonomy to focus on their core business-to-business publications and related businesses.”
Reporting on Beyonce's next move isn't typically the most newsworthy of material - unless of
course we're speaking on her Gareth Pugh mishaps - but, she's creating
quite a buzz with her fragrance launch party, scheduled tonight in
Union Square.
Although we've seen her face on plenty of other fragrances, we'll go along with the celebration surrounding Heat as if it's her first.
Apparently, the party is open to all, since my family, who visited over
the weekend, also knew about the event via Macy's employees.
We're not saying whether or not we like the scent, so we'll leave that up to you, should you decide to attend.
The show will be at Union Square and 14th from 6pm to midnight with - wait for it - a light show.
How exciting!
