FRENCH VOGUE
Mr. Ford has had a fashion career any designer would sell their soul for, he is an award winning film director and screenwriter, and now he can add "Guest Editor to Internationally Revered Magazine" to his list of accomplishments. WWD has a sneak peak of the much anticipated Tom Ford issue of French Vogue, and the cover is, as the French say, fantastique!
At the top of his modeling career, Delaware native Garrett Neff needs no introduction. Being named Forbes’ fifth most successful male model goes to show that this gorgeous, 6’1”, perfectly sculpted body made it to the top.
Most recognizably, he is the face of Calvin Klein Body, where he appears as the first model in the iconic campaign. He follows twice Oscar-nominated Djimon Hounsou, Mark Wahlberg, and Kate Moss. Legendary photographers Bruce Weber and Tom Hintnaus shot the current Garrett series. From the pictures, you can see he will have no problems filling these infamous shoes.
Are the bookers at French Vogue genius or just plain lazy? After the success of their February issue that featured Lara Stone as the model for every spread, they’ve decided to use the same format for their August issue--this time with Polish-born beauty Daria Werbowy as their muse.
Werbowy will be the only model used in the spreads for the entire issue and creative duo Vinoodh Matadin and Inez van Lamsweerde will be the only ones shooting her. If this all sounds a bit familiar, it may be because Matadin and Lamsweerde were the team behind the Werbowy’s cover of last year’s August issue. There’s no doubt we’re in for some stunning photography and I’m sure I’ll be first in the queue at the newsstand for my copy but, I can’t help thinking that, if French Vogue continues the ‘one model per issue' could quickly become a redundant format.
