GIBSON
The Firebird X, said to be Gibson’s stake in revolutionizing the guitar industry and changing the future of instruments, is part guitar and part machine. A homage to the original Firebird, the X has new features such as automatic robotic tuning head, inner modulation, echo, reverb, compression, EQ, and distortion. The guitar even boasts Bluetooth capability.
While guitar aficionados may find the features completely unnecessary and the price tag of $5,500 a bit bloated, some interesting news trickled down the tubes today that may save grace for Gibson. They’ve recently announced the Pure-Analog Engine, an electronic system within the guitar that is user replaceable and can be upgraded according to the wants and desires of the player. The best part of this change is that Gibson has opened up creation of the devices to third party developers, a move which will rapidly lower the price tag for these items over the course of time. Pure-Analog will get its own app. store as well.
James Bond is great and all, but even he pales in comparison to this gin martini known as "The Gibson".
Ingredients:
1/3 cup gin
1 tbsp dry vermouth
1 small cocktail onion or Lemon twist
Ice
Preparation:
First place your martini glass in the freezer to chill.
Next fill your cocktail shaker with ice and gin. Now, shake it like you mean it.
Pour your vermouth into the glass first and swirl it around. Make sure you dump all the excess unless you like it "extra dry".
Add your gin and garnish with a twist of lemon peel or a cocktail onion.
Enjoy thoroughly.
Overzealous rock bands will think twice before smashing their instruments in fits of on-stage bravado after U.S. federal agents began an investigation into alleged illegal trading practices by American guitar maker Gibson Guitars. Agents raided the company’s manufacturing facility in Nashville, TN, on November 17 confiscating computers, boxes of files, and wood samples used for guitar construction. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued the raid after a federal warrant was filed under the suspicion that the manufacturers were illegally importing Madagascan rosewood through an intermediary export company based in Germany. The company is actively cooperating with the investigators and insists that they fully comply with all federally mandated importation regulations.
The Jean Shop
Well I have a favorite belt, yes I’m blogging about a belt. I’ve had this belt since college and trust me that was many many years ago. Anyway, The belt is worn in just right. It's a dark brown heavy leather belt which has been worn to a point where the belt now looks light brown and weathered. It's just beautiful and perfect. The problem is, it's torn in the back and now my lovely belt needs a replacement.
I was at the Apple store on 14th street and walked the block for a cab and passed by the Jean Shop. This place is amazing. Jeans and jackets hang on the wall in all shades of leather and denim, belts and shoes in display everywhere. They offer any style, color, wash - whatever you like in jeans.
