Blazin' Trails

Even as the weather begins to warm up, blazers are the go-to piece to spruce up any outfit. Hot on runways for D&G, Mango, Dsquared, Giorgio Armani and countless others, there's no doubt about -summer isn't keeping this former cool weather garment away. It could possibly be entering into stiletto territory. Also know as "sacrificing comfort for style." (103 degrees outside? Nope, can't take the blazer off, the outfit just won't be the same!)

Galliano Catches Armani's Bad Side

It's no secret that John Galliano, chief designer for Christian Dior, thinks he's a celebrity in his own head. From his backstage bodyguards to his pretentious finale-walk and bow - Galliano thinks of nothing but himself. And we actually like that side of him.

But, in this day and age, and with Haute Couture shows beginning next week, his selfishness is rubbing another designer the wrong way - Giorgio Armani.

Trend Alert: Tapestry

Your family’s old tapestries that once embarrassed you are now making their way onto your favorite shoe and handbag.

Dries Van Noten epitomizes the idea of a sexy shoe by complementing the tapestry-print with a snakeskin heel and sole. Who says beauty is in the eye of the beholder? Beauty reigns with Giambattista Valli’s geranium stone clutch and Giorgio Armani’s jeweled-embroidered clutch. Giving the otherwise romantically-themed trend an edgy twist, Emilio Pucci, Marni, and Vera Wang adorn their bags with chain-links and leather handles. So, never disregard the value of historic pieces—no matter how far-fetched you think it might be. It could very well end up in your closet. At least, let’s hope so!

Fall 2009 Haute Couture Rundown

CALLING ALL FASHIONISTAS! CALLING ALL FASHIONISTAS! One of my favorite seasons has approached and I am so excited! No, I’m not talking about summer; I’m speaking of fall haute couture season. For those of you who don't already know, haute couture (better known as couture) is French for "high dressmaking". It refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and is constructed from high-quality fabric that is sewn with attention to detail. Twice a year (fall and spring), the fashion industry introduces the word to daring and imaginative collections. This season, fashion houses such as Christian Dior, Chanel, Armani Prive and Valentino (to name a few), are viewing past the current economic state and shelling out the big bucks for amazing quality.

Armani's 5th Avenue Flagship

Giorgio Armani will be opening his new Armani/5th Avenue flagship store today. The Italian designer refers to his store located on Fifth Avenue and 56th Street as “very New York”. The new store has a very dramatic interior with an impressive central staircase and a glass structure. The corner location is prime and surrounded by other high end designers like Gucci, Prada, Versace, and Fendi and, next door to Bergdorf Goodman. Armani chose the Fifth Avenue location because of its democratic and mood, which he hopes to represent in the future with his brand. The new store is will be two floors with jeans, sportswear and accessories on the lower level and women’s clothing and men’s wear on the second floor. His store on Madison Avenue will remain open.
