GLAM DAMN IT
As we saw during February’s Fashion Week, Versace’s fall/winter 2012/2013 collection is filled with leather, studs, and fishnet stockings. The designs along with the harsh bang-lines and cat eye makeup made for a dark, rocker-chic show, and as far as their ad campaign goes, they have just bumped that ambiance up another couple of notches. The combination of model melancholy brilliantly expressed by Elza Luijendijk, photography work by the ultimate duo- Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Joe McKenna’s styling, made for a dark, gothic-chic ad campaign.

New York City is a place where you must always expect the unexpected. There are constantly new clubs, restaurants, boutiques or spas with original concepts to fit the needs of anyone and everyone. As we posted earlier this week, the ombre trend is still going strong. A comfortable and easy way to incorporate the trend into your summer wardrobe is through your trusty denim cutoffs. We love Siwy’s Camilla Ombre Cutoff Shorts and Genetic Denim’s Ivy Cutoff Shorts.
Graphic prints and patterns are always a great way to add some spunk to your style. They have been showing up on a multitude of frocks, from skater/snowboarder T’s, to denim, to chic dresses, and our current favorite, accessories. We are loving the look of the funky, graphic totes for summer and their ability to bring an outfit to life. With the bold statement that a bright, graphic bag makes, an otherwise plain outfit can really gain some great character. Mix them with other prints and patterns for a mad fad look, or go the simplistic route with black or white from head-to-toe, and they'll make a real pop on your ‘blank canvas’ ensemble.

Kara Laricks came into the competition as an unlikely winner, as she started out designing ties, and truthfully, we didn’t even think she’d make it past the first round! But thanks to the fashion industry panel of judges (Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos, & Nicole Richie) Laricks was saved and ultimately stepped her game up, improving by leaps and bounds episode after first episode, and was finally pronounced the winner.
