GRAMMY AWARDS
Wolfgang Gartner, a.k.a Joey Youngman, is definitely one of the top American DJs in house music these days, and has been for some time. Gartner began releasing award winning singles in 2009 and now has a nice collection of #1 tracks on Beatport and even a Grammy nomination for his remix of Andy Calwell's "Funk Nasty."
His tracks and remixes lean heavily on supremely danceable, "4 to the floor" house beats, with the tried and true hang/drop that is so popular in EDM today. Working alongside and remixing some of the biggest pop stars and producers today, Gartner's tracks are familiar as they are inventive, catchy as they are unique. He has proven himself time and again, bringing his exciting sets to stages all over the world.
The music industry just keeps getting better, which generates the gloomy realization that the radio will have to suffice instead of hearing the tunes in the past college bar scene. Some artist's have continued creating catchy tracks while others have blown up, showing that they aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
In short, 2010's music can most be remembered for Lady Gaga, Bruno making all the females swoon and an exhilarating formal introduction to Mumford & Sons. Not to mention the satisfaction in knowing that Kings of Leon will continue to be the best rock band for years to come with their Southern root melodies and lyrics that without a doubt will catch listener's pressing repeat on their playlist.
Rock royalty Kings of Leon have announced a release date of October 19 for their new album, Come Around Sundown. It’s the fifth studio album for the critically acclaimed group who won three Grammy awards in 2008 for their song “Use Somebody.”
The new album is described by the band as “chilled out” and “beachy,” a bit of a departure from their Southern rock roots. A video of the band performing “Southbound,” a track off of the new album, is below.
Gloria Estefan has received so many awards during her three decades in the limelight that there is an entire Wikipedia page dedicated just to listing them. And now Vegas has added another honor to the acclaimed performer.
On April 29, The Las Vegas Walk of Stars presented Gloria and her husband Emilio, the former band leader of Miami Sound Machine, with their own star. This is the first time a couple has ever been jointly recognized on the walkway.
Although we were sad to see Charles Hamilton leave the music scene, his return and release of his latest creation Normalcy more then made up for it. And now, alongside with Josh Madden spinning the records, the tag team will tear up the opening night at our Fashion Week Gala event at Capitale. Renowned DJ Josh Madden is the perfect complimentary sidekick to match the energy of Sonic The Hamilton. Not only is DJ Josh Madden touring the U.S., he is also a stylist and co-founder of the clothing label DCMA Collective. Talk about the interwining of music and fashion! We were able to get some answers as to what make these two tick.
As always, we opt not to speak on red carpet looks from award shows. However, since model-turned-E! reporter Coco Rocha was there, we had to take a peek - well, a peek at her twitter.
She tweeted a pic of herself at the Grammy Awards wearing a dress from her upcoming clothing line, Rococo.
We're not saying whether we do or don't like it, but it's certainly interesting. And we're sure that things are going to get even more interesting now that Coco is expressing her desire to show at Fashion Week soon.
Proudly, we can definitely say it isn't another Erin Wasson thing. But, again - it's interesting.

On December 15th, Norah Jones, while promoting her new album The Fall, appeared as a musical guest for the show. Norah Jones is best known for sweeping the Grammy Awards in 2003, taking home 8 awards including Best New Artist and Album of the Year, despite being largely unknown by the public at the time. In the past her music has been categorized as jazz with soul and folk influences. On her latest fourth album, she steps outside of the box a little bit, her ballads still nurturing, but more up-tempo with hints of blues and soul.
Within the past two months, Las Vegas mainstream rockers Theory of Flight have opened for musical headliners like Everclear and Train and it looks like pretty soon they'll be looking for opening acts of their own. This year alone the band has won Mix 94.1's Battle for Bite Las Vegas, recorded a music video for their song "Set the Night on Fire," headlined for Hollywood Music in Media Awards showcase which earned them a nomination in the rock category for the ballad "Can't You See," and released their debut album, Within Reach.
