Every weekend hundreds, if not thousands, of Loyola students get on the red line and migrate south like a flock of geese. They're heading for the watering holes of Lake View and Lincoln Park, of course. However, it is now time to get the word out on a new spot in the Roger's Park neighborhood--just a stones throw from the university.
63, formerly Hamilton's, is a recently renovated and reopened establishment, and oh boy, did they do a great job with the interior. The long bar has an ebony finish to match the floor, the red brick walls are adorned with a chalk white outline of a lion crest, and the ceiling fans sort of resemble revolving water lilies.
Morningstar Grillers Prime are a good choice in terms of a very general-tasting veggie burger. They are made primarily of wheat gluten and soy protein, rather than vegetables. The patties can be dressed up with basic sauces like ketchup, hot sauce or barbecue sauce, and taste best on a roll with lettuce.
The Gardenburger Original is another veggie-burger classic. These small patties are low in calories and fat, and made up of mushrooms, onions, cooked brown rice and some cheeses. These taste good on a roll with sliced avocado and alfalfa sprouts.
