After over 15 years of producing outstanding events in Barcelona, Sonar Festival is touching down on US shores to bring the largest crowds in the world another occasion to look forward to. In an attempt at breaking into the roaming day festival market, Sonar On Tour will no doubt rival industry leaders such as Identity and Day-Glow. Boasting artists like Die Antwood, Azari & III, and Tiga, Sonar is doing everything in their power to bring the excitement of their European event to their first full tour.
"Sonar On Tour" makes its New York City debut on Friday Nov. 2nd at Roseland Ballroom and will no doubt be a special beginning to their action packed circuit. Innovation is their objective and they will not allow this to be compromised at any level. Click here for tickets and info.
Grimes is often compared to sounding like Mariah Carey, Enya, Bjork, a baby, and an extraterrestrial all at the same time. All four of her New York City shows sold out in just days. If your ear’s interest still hasn’t been peaked, just go watch her music video for her single “Oblivion” where she resembles a little girl with pink hair, bouncing around a packed stadium with an oversized 1991-esque boom box, headphones, as she floats in and out of the men’s locker room while buff dudes in white towels pump iron.
The Montreal-descendent, born Claire Boucher, is an electro-pop singer/producer who is an almost confusing combination of femininity and darkness; draped in soft pinks and harsh blacks with touches of green… mainly in her hair. She has described her own music as "A.D.D. music," which is quite accurate. It is danceable, 1980’s-style synthy-dreamy-pop. It was her time at McGill University in Montreal that she became involved with the underground electronic music and industrial scene. Her music production had its birth in her apartment originally using GarageBand, a Roland Juno-G keyboard, and two different vocal processors (Line 6 M9 and a BOSS VE-20).
Her first album, released in 2010 was followed by Halfaxa that same year, and (what people have claimed her best yet) Visions in 2012.
When asked in an interview with Tiny Mix Tapes why she doesn’t just start a band, she said it’s because she is very picky. “The kind of people I want to be in my band have priorities. The kind of people I want to contribute something cool to the live set are doing their own shit. I can’t ask them to, and I don’t want to just pay for session musicians, because I want someone who’s going to do something weird.” A nice dose of eccentricity is always a good thing and it's certainly something you can expect from Grimes.

Watch the UMF 2012 recap video below to gear up for the festivites bound to go down this March:
When Fool's Gold Records was born in 2007, there was no doubt the label would redefine what it means to be an indie label. Founded by DJs A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, the pair created a one-of-a-kind label placing them in a unique category based on their music, parties, and beyond. Five years later, Fools Gold has everything to celebrate about.
The Fall 2012 phase of Bounce Music Festival is about to get in gear to rock a city near you. Hosting global superstar DJs, this year's festival welcomes headliners Alesso, Martin Solveig, Hardwell, Dada Life, Rusko, and Borgore.
Bounce kicks off on Friday, Oct. 26 in Raleigh, North Carolina with Swedish sensation, Alesso at the Longbranch of Raleigh. A second date on Oct. 26 will feature French producer Martin Solveig, Dutch master Hardwell, Deniz Koyu and Tim Mason at the Mesa Amphitheater in Mesa, Arizona. The UK dubstep leader Rusko will drop the bass at the Limelight in Nashville, Tennessee as the last date of the tour on Nov. 19th.
There are very few live electronic acts that actually prosper blatant innovation and progression within their sound, style, and ability. EOTO, the 100% improvized creation of Jason Hann and Michael Travis of The String Chees Incident, has no doubt reached this elevated level of musicianship. Everytime they play for an eager crowd they create something completely original and totally different than their last performance. In an industry struck with the dangers of monotony, EOTO stands strong to deliver bass-throbing, intricate ballads which oppose all previous conceptions of electronic music.
This Labor Day, Electric Zoo is set to takeover Randall’s Island for the fourth year in a row. With just under two weeks left until the festival, organizers have released the final lineup and set times for the three-day event. Spanning four stages, Electric Zoo will offer an eclectic lineup, which includes everything from House to Techno, Trance to Dubstep, and Electro to Drum & Bass. Some of the most notable names in the EDM will perform in one of the biggest electronic music festivals on the east coast, with David Guetta, Axwell, and Tiësto headlining.
New York City is about to get a little bit more cosmic. Wednesday August 29th, Cosmic Opera and Cosmic Management are presenting a free concert at Arena in midtown. This exclusive New York Premiere Showcase Event will be featuring the sounds of Cosmic Management’s Filo & Peri, George Garcia, and David Dann. The cosmic concert, to take you out of this world, is open to everyone from 8 PM to midnight, but for guaranteed admission it is advised to arrive between 8 PM and 10 PM. Free tickets are available here.
