"Discarded to Divine": An Eco-Fashion Show to Fight Poverty in San Francisco

On Thursday, April 26 at 6:30pm, join St. Vincent de Paul Society for "Discarded to Divine," an exciting night showcasing professional and aspriring fashion designers who transform donated clothing into couture clothing and home decor. All cutting-edge creations are auctioned off to benefit those struggling with poverty, domestic violence and homelessness.

Held annually since 2005, and attracting an audience of 1,000, Discarded to Divine is a much-anticipated fashion event for San Francisco's philanthropic community, fashionistas, young professionals and supporters of St. Vincent de Paul Society. A St. Vincent rep says, "Discarded to Divine has become more than a fundraiser–it is now a movement that embraces charity and sustainability to restore the lives of those around us."

Held at the chic SF Design Center Galleria, the event includes appetizers, beverages and live and silent auctions. Tickets start at $95 and can be purchased here.

As the largest provider of domestic violence services in San Francisco, The St. Vincent de Paul Society helps impoverished women and children attain safety and self-sufficiency. Striving to serve all those in need, the Society cares for women that other agencies cannot help, including undocumented women who are often unaware they are protected by federal law. Editor's Re-See: Twinkle By Wenlan

We have just returned from a desperately needed editor's re-see of the Twinkle By Wenlan Fall 2010 bevy, for the runway show at Bryant Park didn't nearly do the collection justice.

Though the showroom may have been a tad bit toasty, the heat couldn't stop us from wanting to run and jump into the Twinkle By Wenlan bedding decor and wrap ourselves in the strings of yarn the label offers for ordering.

The staff coordinated a stellar presentation of the Fall and Pre-Fall 2010 looks for editors' and buyers' viewing pleasure. Observing the garments up close and personal, we were amazed by the quirky and admirable details that we didn't catch from our seats at the runway show. For example, a one crew-neck mesh dress (with prints along the mid-drift) came equipped with thumb holes at the end of the sleeves.

Home Decor With DvF!

Can't get enough of Diane Von Furstenberg's prints mixed with bright and bold colors?

Neither could we - so, does that make us first in line for her soon-to-be-launched home decor line?

The thought of spilling wine on printed placemats and eating soup from brightly colored bowls during our next dinner party excites us. And let's not forget the closing of the night - ending it, in full Gossip Girl fashion, with the hottest boy at the party - all over and in between DvF sheets. Oop!

The home decor line comes from a partnership with Springs Global, and is said to include bedding, bath, tabletops and more. The joy! Items will be available come next January.

One thing's for sure, we look forward to following Diane's progress in becoming the next Martha Stewart.
