Monique Rodrigues is a brilliant up and coming DJ, playing gigs all over New York City. The bombshell hails from Brazil and incorporates her culture into her music. Having worked with big names in the industry like DJ Cassidy and Q-Tip, she is surely a force to be reckoned with. We had a chance to catch up with the DJ and spoke to her about everything from her new Brazilian party series to her favorite spots to play in NYC.
You have both Brazilian and American influences in your music - how do you think that distinguishes you as a DJ?
Warm weather breeds aspirations of greatness, especially when it remains throughout the week. When the climate decides to play nice, permit some friendly rays, and bathe the world in luscious warmth, the desire to seize such beauty is paramount. In lieu of the typical weekend decrescendo back towards the “work-week anticlimax," one must salvage opportunity by forcibly seizing the flighty reigns of adventure!

When you arrive you'll notice vines climbing up the side of the building, along with an eclectic collection of seating arrangements. Some in the form of old wicker couches and old iron thrones, fit to make all feel more than royal. Margaritas and mojitos are the specialty here, but to get the most BANG out of your dollar and the bottle, go for the pitcher of your favorite drink at $65.

Celebrating CR's collaboration with Sephora for her new Charlotte Ronson beauty collection, fashionistas from all over gathered on the rooftop of Hotel Chantelle for an amazing dinner followed by an even more amazing after party featuring the musical stylings of DJ Harley Viera-Newton. Some of the fabulous party goers included: Charlotte Ronson (duh), Charlotte's mom Anne Dexter-Jones, the social climbing wunderkind Genevieve Jones, Nylon's Accessories Director Dani Stahl, DJ Mia Moretti, filmmaker Sarah Sophie Flicker, singer/ model Sky Ferreira, Venezuelan social butterfly Fabiola Beracasa, actress/ DJ Becka Diamond, and singer/ songwriter Shooter Jennings; way too many fabulous people to name them all! Charlotte's sister Samantha Ronson and her long-time pal Nicole Richie were unable to make the event due to travel complications that ensued from Hurrican Irene.
