IMPERIAL PALACE
Harrah's has announced truly incredible news. Starting Monday, April 12, all of the Las Vegas Harrah's casinos will come together for a citywide "Buffet of Buffets" coalition. That means for just $29.99 you can visit any (or all) of Harrah's seven buffets throughout the city as often as desired within a 24-hour period. For that day, you will have unlimited access to the breakfast, lunch, dinner and (most importantly) dessert stations at:
- Carnival World Buffet at Rio
- Flavors at Harrah's
- Paradise Garden Buffet at Flamingo
- Emperor's Garden Buffet at Imperial Palace
- Le Village Buffet at Paris
- Lago Buffet at Caesars Palace
- Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood
Sarah Palin took a seat on Jay Leno's couch Tuesday night to chat and giggle and all that other nonsense guests do on late-night talk shows. Once the two were done catching up, Leno announced that Palin was going to make her "comedy debut" (apparently SNL doesn't count). The former Governor of Alaska took to the stage and performed a pretty decent stand-up routine. She joked about the things you'd expect: Alaska (it's so cold there it's "5 degrees below Congress' approval rating"), not being the vice president ("I would not know what to do with all that free time), and of course, Tina Fey ("I have been really busy, I've picked up a gig in Las Vegas, at the Legends show, playing Tina Fey.")
This weekend marks the 13th year NASCAR has come to Vegas. The four-day competition began February 25 when 70 18-wheel haulers proceeded from Mandalay Bay north to the Sahara along with police escorts whose flashing lights provided a nice shine to the parade.
Now, I don't know a whole lot about racecar driving. Just last week I was freaking out to my roommate, screaming, "Did you know Dale Earnhardt died? How did we not hear about this?!" Only to then Wikipedia it and see that in 2001 Dale Earnhardt Sr. died and that I was about nine years late.
I do know Danica Patrick though, NASCAR's first female driver, who is in town this weekend.
After her event on Saturday, Danica is set on returning to follow her dream of winning the Indianapolis 500 and doesn't plan on racing for JR Motorsports again until late June.
"My ultimate goal is to still win the Indianapolis 500 and the Indy car championship-that's the primary focus. We put a lot of effort into these first three stock car races. It doesn't mean I'll lose touch with my team at JR Motorsports while I'm back in the Indy Car series. It's no secret Las Vegas is going to be another challenge for me, so I'll spend time learning the lines in practice again."
"Meantime, I'll be cheering on my JR teammate Kelly Bires over the next few months and keep in touch with my crew chief and the guys until my return in June."
Along with Danica, many other big names in racing will be here including hometown heroes Kurt and Kyle Bush, the not-deceased Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, who is favored to win this Sunday.
At the pre-show on Sunday, Robin Leach will emcee, Terry Fator will sing the national anthem, and Human Nature from the Imperial Palace will get the crowd amped with their Motown jams.
"It is an honor for me to sing the national anthem at the Shelby American race in Las Vegas," said Terry. "I believe that my fans and NASCAR fans are one and the same, so it is a match made in heaven. I grew up in Texas, so you know I'm a true NASCAR fan!"
Kim Kardashian and racing icon Carroll Shelby will act as co-grand marshals for the Shelby American NASCAR Spring Cup Series race on Sunday.
"Of course, I will have my rooting interest during the race," said Kim about the No. 36 Chevy driven by Mike Bliss which displays a paint job featuring her new fragrance.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting all the drivers. It's such a tremendous honor to serve as co-grand marshal, and I'm really looking forward to experiencing a Spring Cup race up close."
